Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi seeks a hands-on electrical engineer to design LV/MV switchgear and power distribution systems for automotive and industrial use, using EPLAN, WSCAD, Creo or equivalent CAD tools.

You will translate customer requirements into clear specifications, contribute to design, development and validation, and collaborate across functions to ensure system integration and adherence to IEC/IEEE standards. English proficiency and a UAE driving license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrics, Electronics, Software Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Five to ten years of experience; defense industry experience is advantageous.
• English communication skills required; UAE driving license preferred.
• Microsoft Office knowledge is preferred.

ABOUT THE ROLE

A Technical Expertise

• Experience in the design of DC and AC switchgear for low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) systems.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools for schematic design and documentation (e.g., EPLAN, WSCAD, Creo, or equivalent e-CAD software).
• Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, particularly within automotive applications.
• Familiarity with automotive and/or industrial instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors, as well as associated control hardware.
• Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including CLP programming, servo electric drives, and actuators.
• Working knowledge of international electrical standards for system documentation, such as IEC 60617 / IEC 61082 and ANSI Y32.2 / IEEE 315.
• Solid understanding of system-level design principles, aligned with a system engineering approach.
• Translate customer requirements into clear and structured technical and project specifications.
• Contribute to the design, development, and validation of electrical systems in accordance with project and customer requirements.
• Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure system integration and compliance with applicable standards.
• Participate in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting activities with a hands‑on approach.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor degree in Electrics, Electronics, Software Engineering, Physics or other related field required; Master degree preferred.
• Five to Ten years of experience.
• Previous experience in Defense Industry is an advantage.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Software Package is preferred.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is required.
• Have, or be able to obtain a valid UAE driver’s license.
