Job summary

Destinus seeks a senior Energetics Safety & Assurance Officer to own safety, quality, and regulatory assurance for missile and UAS platforms from design through testing and operation.

You will implement SSPP in line with MIL-STD-882E, conduct hazard analyses, FMEA, CAPA, and ensure compliance for energetic materials and propulsion systems across programs, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, testing and compliance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems/ Aerospace/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or similar.
• At least 8 years in defense systems safety or related field within defense environment.
• Strong knowledge of MIL-STD-882E or equivalent frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of insensitive munitions requirements and range safety.
• Hands-on hazard analyses, FMEA, fault tree analysis, and safety case documentation.
• Experience with safety-critical hardware and complex multidisciplinary systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain SSPP per MIL-STD-882E and regional standards.
• Lead hazard analyses (PHA, SSHA, OSHA), FMEA, fault trees across subsystems.
• Own hazard tracking, drive risk through assessment, mitigation, verification and closure.
• Lead investigations into safety incidents and CAPA actions.
• Oversee explosives safety requirements for siting, storage, handling, transport.
• Coordinate export control and end-use compliance with legal teams.
• Interface with certifying authorities and government safety boards during qualification and acceptance.
