Job summary

Amana Healthcare is seeking an Endoscopy Nurse to support comprehensive endoscopic procedures, pre- and post-procedure care, and patient safety in a specialized setting.

The role requires a Nursing degree, valid DOH/DHA/MOH license, and BLS certification; ACLS preferred. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and adherence to infection prevention standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess, prepare, and educate patients before endoscopic procedures.
• Document patient history, vital signs, allergies, and clinical data.
• Assist physicians during endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP, etc.).
• Administer medications and conscious sedation per orders.
• Monitor patients during procedures and recovery; ensure discharge criteria.
• Maintain infection control and safe clinical environment.
• Prepare endoscopy equipment and rooms; ensure proper cleaning and storage.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and collaborate with the care team.

The Endoscopy Nurse will be responsible for patient assessment, preparation, assistance during procedures, recovery monitoring, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assess, prepare, and educate patients before endoscopic procedures.
• Obtain and document patient history, vital signs, allergies, and relevant clinical information.
• Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP, and other specialized procedures as required.
• Administer medications and conscious sedation as per physician orders and organizational policies.
• Monitor patients throughout procedures and promptly identify and respond to any changes in patient condition.
• Provide post-procedure care and monitor patients during recovery until discharge criteria are met.
• Deliver discharge instructions and patient education regarding post-procedure care.

Patient Safety and Quality Care

• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.
• Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment.
• Verify patient identity, consent forms, and procedural documentation before procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
• Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies and complications.

Equipment and Unit Management

• Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment and procedural rooms.
• Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and storage of endoscopic instruments according to established guidelines.
• Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate maintenance as required.
• Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of medical supplies and consumables.

Documentation and Collaboration

• Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, technicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and continuing education activities.
