Job summary

NMC in Abu Dhabi invites applications for an Emergency Medical Technician responsible for rapid ambulance responses, on-scene assessment, basic life support, and patient stabilization. You will work with EMS teams, maintain ambulance readiness, and coordinate with hospitals, police and fire departments to ensure safe transport and continuous care.

Requirements include DOH EMT license in Abu Dhabi, at least 2 years of EMT experience, BLS and PHTLS, strong English communication, and UAE driving

Qualifications

• Valid DOH EMT license in Abu Dhabi.
• International EMT Basic course with BLS Certification & PHTLS.
• At least two years of EMT experience.
• Currently licensed in country of origin with DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Excellent English communication; Arabic desirable.
• UAE driving license preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensures both personnel and vehicle readiness and availability to respond to accident or sudden illness or emergencies.

Responsibilities:

1. Responds to the medical emergency calls, drives to the scene and provides basic life support to the victims before they are transported to the hospital.
2. Evaluates the nature and extent of illness/injury to determine the right course of actions. Conduct patient assessment, 3 Lead ECG-suggestive.
3. Provides medical aid such as AED, CPR,provide spinal motion restriction, ventilation, control severe bleeding; prevent shock, bandaging wounds, etc., to stabilize their condition.
4. Administration of activated charcoal, oral glucose and oxygen.
5. Constantly assesses the patient enroute to the emergency facility, administers additional care as indicated or directed by medical control.
6. Maintains vehicles and medical and communication equipment and replenishes first-aid equipment and supplies.
   1. Restocks all supplies in the ambulance and replace used blankets, linens and other supplies.
   2. Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting protocols.
7. Continuously reassures the patient enroute to the emergency facility.
8. Assists all EMT paramedics in efficient advance life support care system.
9. Performs direct illness/injury assessment, provides basic emergency pre-hospital patient care to the ill and injured prior to and during ambulance transfer, and transfer of information to receiving facility.
   1. Maintains operational and functional readiness of ambulance unit, medical and other equipment, to ensure continuum of emergency services.
10. Works closely with communications officers, field supervisors, emergency department and other hospital personnel, the police department the fire dep't., and other individuals, to deliver basic emergency and non-emergency medical services to the general public.
11. Respond to calls from communications dispatcher, use appropriate radio communication skills, use most expeditious route with the goal to locate the patient needing emergency services in the shortest response time possible.
12. Assists in lifting, carrying, transporting patient to ambulance and on to a medical facility, reassuring patients and bystanders, avoiding mishandling patient and undue haste, and to provide additional emergency care following established protocols.
13. Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards in the performance of duties.
    1. Inspect and clean ambulance and equipments; to review and restock all medical equipment to ensure their completeness and operational readiness at all times, in consultation and collaboration with field supervisor, and in compliance with safety and infection control regulations and standards.
14. Conducts scene size-up.
15. Conduct primary and secondary patient examinations.
16. Take and record vital signs.
17. Utilize non-invasive diagnostic devices.
    1. Properly use of oropharyngeal & nasopharyngeal airway devices.
18. Open and maintain airway by positioning the patient's head.
19. Provide CPR & rescue breathing for infant, children, and adults.
20. Provide care for soft tissue injuries and control bleeding through direct pressure.
21. Provide care for suspected fractures.
22. Immobilization using spinal board, cervical collar, and splints.
23. Calm down the victim’s family members.
24. Ventilate with a non-invasive positive pressure delivery device.
25. Provide care for suspected shock patients
26. Perform blood glucose monitoring.
27. Administer Epinephrine Auto Injector only for anaphylaxis or automatic injection device for anaphylaxis.
28. Administer aspirin for suspected myocardial infarction.
29. Operate bag valve mask device with reservoir.
30. Perform cardiac defibrillation with an automatic external defibrillator.
31. Perform upper air way suctioning.
    1. Understands the use of body substance isolation.
32. Understands basic medical-legal principles.
33. Functions within only the scope of care as defined by state, region and local regulatory agencies.
34. Complies with regulations on the handling of the deceased, notifies authorities and arranges for protection of property and evidence at the scene.
35. Determine that the vehicle is in proper mechanical condition.
36. Maintains familiarity with specialized equipment used by service.
37. Attends continuing education and refresher training programs.
38. Complete a clear and accurate pre-hospital emergency care report from all patient contacts and provide copy of the report to the senior EMT.
39. Perform Cardiac monitoring-3 Lead.
40. Administer Medication via Intramuscular, Intranasal, Intravenous and via Nebulizer.
41. Insert Intravenous Cannula and administer Crystalloids.

Qualifications:

1. A Valid DOH License/ Exam passed as EMT in Abu Dhabi.
2. Graduate of internationally recognized EMT – Basic course or equivalent with minimum 4 weeks (6 Weeks) duration and valid BLS Certification & PHTLS.
3. At least two (2) years of experience as Emergency Medical technician.
4. Currently licensed in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
5. Excellent communication skills in English is Mandatory, Knowledge in Arabic language will be desirable but not necessary.
6. Preference to candidate with UAE driving License.
