ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Testing & Commissioning Engineer for HV/MV substations. You will develop detailed testing plans, review specs, and supervise all testing activities across GIS/AIS and protection systems.
Lead FAT/SAT, coordinate with vendors, and ensure QA/QC compliance while guiding engineers and technicians toward successful project handover to the client.
Job Description:
Develop detailed testing & commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.
Review project specifications, drawings, and vendor documents.
Manage and supervise testing & commissioning activities for substation equipment, including:
Power Transformers
Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) / Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS)
MV/LV Switchgear
Protection relays and control systems
Control & relay panels
Cables and cable systems
Ensure all pre-commissioning checks and energization procedures are followed.
Witness and approve factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
Lead testing of protection schemes, including distance, differential, overcurrent, and backup protection.
Configure, test, and troubleshoot protection relays.
Verify SCADA integration and communication protocols.
Identify and resolve technical issues during testing and commissioning.
Coordinate with vendors for specialized testing and system integration.
Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and standards.
Review and approve test reports and commissioning records.
Maintain proper documentation for all testing activities.
Manage and supervise commissioning engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
Allocate work and monitor team performance.
Provide technical guidance and training.
Coordinate with client, consultant, and authorities for inspections and approvals.
Attend meetings and provide technical updates.
Support final project handover and client acceptance.
Minimum 10-15 years of experience in electrical projects.
At least 5 years in testing & commissioning of substations (HV/MV).
Experience in GIS/AIS substations up to 132kV / 220kV / 400kV is preferred.
Previous Experiences with TAQA
Strong knowledge of substation equipment and systems.
Expertise in protection relays and testing equipment
Familiarity with SCADA and communication protocols.
Leadership and team management skills.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication and reporting skills.
