Job summary

Consertus Puerto Rico seeks an Electrical Inspector to oversee electrical installations on construction projects in the UAE. You will inspect power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-current systems, and verify work against drawings, specs, and codes.

Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and QA teams to ensure safety and quality. Responsibilities include witnessing testing, identifying defects, maintaining records, and supporting handover activities.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in electrical inspection or supervision.
• Familiarity with IEC, NEC, BS or local authority requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical installations: power distribution, lighting, low-current systems, grounding.
• Review installations against drawings, specs, method statements, and codes.
• Monitor contractors' progress and ensure materials and workmanship compliance.
• Conduct inspections and witness testing and commissioning as required.
• Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Review IRs, MIRs, test reports, and quality documentation.
• Maintain records of inspections, testing, and site progress.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve issues.
• Monitor installation and testing of electrical equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with international standards, local regulations, and specs.
• Assist in reviewing shop drawings, as-built drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor site safety practices related to electrical works.
• Participate in site meetings and report inspection findings.
• Follow up on punch-list items and verify completion before handover.
• Support testing, commissioning, and final handover activities.

About this role:

Oversee and inspect electrical installation works on construction projects, ensuring that all activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and project quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect electrical installation works, including power distribution, lighting, low-current systems, grounding, and other electrical systems.


• Review and verify electrical installations against approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and applicable codes and standards.


• Monitor contractors' work progress and ensure compliance with approved materials, workmanship, and project requirements.


• Conduct inspections and witness testing and commissioning activities as required.


• Identify defects, discrepancies, and non-conforming works and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented


• Review inspection requests (IRs), material inspection requests (MIRs), test reports, and other quality documentation


• Maintain accurate records of inspections, observations, testing activities, and site progress


• Coordinate with electrical engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and other disciplines to resolve site issues and technical queries


• Monitor the installation and testing of electrical equipment and systems


• Ensure that electrical works comply with applicable international standards, local regulations, and project specifications


• Assist in reviewing shop drawings, as-built drawings, material submittals, and technical documentation where required


• Monitor site safety practices related to electrical works and report unsafe conditions


• Participate in site meetings and provide updates on inspection findings and outstanding issues


• Follow up on punch-list items and verify their completion prior to project handover


• Support testing, commissioning, and final handover activities

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field


• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in electrical inspection, construction supervision, or quality control


• Experience working on construction projects, preferably within an engineering consultancy or contractor environment preferably experience with large-scale commercial, residential, infrastructure, or industrial projects


• Good knowledge of electrical installations, testing, and commissioning


• Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards such as IEC, NEC, BS, or local authority requirements


• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and technical documents


• Experience with inspection and quality-control procedures and documentation


• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and non-compliant work


• Good communication and coordination skills


• Ability to work effectively on construction sites and coordinate with multiple stakeholders


• Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant engineering/construction documentation systems
