James L Williams Middle East is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager – Data Centre to join our Engineering team and lead the electrical design and engineering deliverables across complex projects.

The role focuses on managing the design process, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, leading the design team, and ensuring compliance with project requirements, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Minimum 15 years of design and engineering experience in Data Centre/MEP/Construction.
• At least 5 years in a managerial role with project leadership.
• Experience delivering data centre projects and familiarity with BIM.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process from concept through completion.
• Coordinate interfaces across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Review and approve technical deliverables, checks, and calculations.
• Manage design documents, calculations, scopes of work, and BOQs.
• Provide technical guidance and lead the design team.

James L Williams Middle East is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager – Data Centre to join our Engineering team and lead the electrical design and engineering deliverables across complex projects.

The role is responsible for managing the design process, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering interfaces, leading the design team, reviewing and approving technical deliverables, and ensuring designs are completed in accordance with project requirements, schedules, budgets, applicable standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the electrical design process from concept through completion.
• Manage engineering deliverables, project schedules, and engineering budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Lead the design of power distribution, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, emergency lighting, structured cabling, and security systems.
• Oversee the preparation of electrical designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, scopes of work, and BOQs.
• Review and approve design documents and calculations and conduct independent design checks and reviews.
• Analyse complex electrical engineering problems and provide technically sound and cost-effective solutions.
• Lead and coordinate Electrical Design Engineers, CAD personnel, and supporting engineering resources.
• Coordinate electrical designs with Architects, Structural Engineers, Consultants, other engineering disciplines, and construction teams.
• Provide technical expertise for equipment selection and procurement, including techno-commercial reviews of systems, products, and equipment.
• Drive Value Engineering solutions and assess design constructability, completeness, and practicality.
• Represent the company in design meetings with Clients, Consultants, Architects, and Main Contractors.
• Liaise with relevant Authorities to obtain required design approvals.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the design team and promote collaboration and effective project delivery.
• Conduct design reviews and audits to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Resolve design-related issues arising during construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in design and engineering (Data Centre / MEP/ Construction), including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Mandatory experience in the design and delivery of Data Centre projects.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering and building services design, including technical and contractual aspects.
• Strong design experience in power distribution, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, emergency lighting, structured cabling, and security systems.
• Proven experience leading complex multidisciplinary engineering design or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of applicable local and international codes, standards, and accepted industry practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical design, procurement, and construction methods and codes.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM).
• Working knowledge of Amtech, Hevacomp, ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Strong project management, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
