Role Context The Early Years Teacher will provide young learners with a strong foundation for future education by creating a safe, nurturing and purposeful learning environment. The role requires a balance of structured teaching, play-based exploration, communication development, early literacy and numeracy, creativity and personal development. Working within GEMS Wesgreen International School, the teacher will help children become confident, curious and independent learners while closely monitoring individual progress and wellbeing. The position also involves strong collaboration with colleagues and families to ensure that each child receives appropriate support and challenge during this important stage of development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Early Years learning experiences appropriate to children 's developmental stages.
  • Create engaging classroom activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, creativity and independent thinking.
  • Support early literacy, communication, language and numeracy development through practical and purposeful learning.
  • Use play-based and teacher-guided approaches to develop children 's knowledge, confidence and social skills.
  • Establish a safe, inclusive and welcoming classroom environment where every child feels valued.
  • Adapt learning experiences to meet different abilities, interests, developmental needs and learning styles.
  • Observe children carefully and use assessment evidence to identify progress, strengths and areas requiring additional support.
  • Maintain accurate records of children 's learning, development and achievement.
  • Set appropriate next steps based on individual observations and assessment outcomes.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, resilience, cooperation and respect.
  • Support children 's emotional wellbeing and help them develop secure relationships within the school environment.
  • Use creative resources, practical activities, stories, movement, art and exploration to enrich learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other Early Years colleagues when planning and delivering learning.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding children 's progress, wellbeing and development.
  • Contribute to transition arrangements as children move between Early Years stages and into Primary education.
  • Participate in school events, enrichment activities, celebrations and wider community initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, supervision, health and safety throughout the school day.
  • Engage actively in professional development, collaborative planning and school improvement activities.
  • Follow GEMS policies and applicable UAE educational requirements.

Ideal Profile Candidates should hold a B.Ed or a bachelor 's degree together with a PGCE, PGDE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification specialising in Primary or Early Years Education. Experience teaching the National Curriculum for England will be valuable, although Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for Early Years education and the ability to create engaging, innovative and inclusive learning experiences for young children. High expectations for children 's achievement, behaviour, wellbeing and personal development are essential. Applicants should understand how young children learn through exploration, communication, practical activity and carefully structured teaching. Strong communication and teamwork skills are required, together with the ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues and families. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional learning and willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
