Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer within a school environment.
• NEBOSH or IOSH certification is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of safety management, accident prevention, and fire prevention principles.
• Familiarity with KHDA, DHA, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence, and school compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, safety inspections, and emergency drills.
• Ability to write clear incident reports, policies, procedures, and investigation findings.

Responsibilities

• Develop school health and safety regulations, procedures, standards, and operational guidelines.
• Review existing safety controls and recommend improvements based on identified risks.
• Monitor the implementation of health, safety, security, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with KHDA, DHA, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence, and other applicable requirements.
• Train staff on school safety procedures, regulatory expectations, and emergency responsibilities.
• Deliver age‑appropriate health and safety awareness sessions for students.
• Conduct induction safety training for newly hired employees.
• Organise annual refresher training and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Manage the designated isolation room and ensure it remains properly equipped and controlled.
• Establish daily and continuous cleaning and sanitization requirements for school facilities.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to verify that safety protocols are followed.
• Undertake fire safety audits and document findings, corrective actions, and completion status.
• Liaise with Civil Defense during inspections and fire safety reviews.
• Plan and conduct fire, evacuation, and emergency response drills.
• Prepare detailed drill reports and recommend practical improvements.
• Identify fire hazards, unsafe conditions, and dangerous work practices during inspection rounds.
• Stop unsafe activities that may threaten students, staff, visitors, or property.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, injuries, and safety concerns.
• Conduct risk assessments and determine preventive or corrective measures.
• Maintain updated emergency contact details for students, staff, authorities, and service providers.
• Coordinate contact tracing activities with the school clinic when required.
• Record relevant contact details and actions in the HASANA system where applicable.
• Manage emergency situations according to approved health and safety protocols.
• Arrange stakeholder meetings to address urgent risks and agree on result‑oriented solutions.
• Prepare incident reports, inspection records, risk registers, and compliance documentation.
• Analyse safety data and produce statistical reports for school management.
• Protect confidential health, incident, and student information.
• Maintain complete evidence for audits, inspections, and internal reviews.
