Job summary

GMG Gulf in Dubai invites applications for the Retail Cashier - Customer Service role. You will handle customer transactions, process payments, and ensure accuracy in till operations while delivering friendly service.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in retail cashiering or customer service, with cash, card and cheque handling knowledge, and the ability to reconcile tills and follow security procedures.

Qualifications

• High school certificate or diploma.
• 1–3 years of experience in retail cashiering or customer service.
• Working knowledge of cash, card and cheque handling procedures.
• Basic understanding of till reconciliation and retail security controls.

Responsibilities

• Process customer purchases accurately at the designated till.
• Provide helpful information about product prices, payment options and current promotions.
• Inform customers about available gift vouchers and applicable concept offers.
• Verify that prices are regularly updated and correctly reflected in the system.
• Count cash in the till at the beginning of each shift and confirm that adequate change is available.
• Check currency denominations and ensure the correct payment amount is received.
• Conduct required security checks on cash, credit cards, cheques and other payment methods.
• Maintain full responsibility for the assigned till, cash and other valuables.
• Complete cash counting after the final customer leaves the showroom.
• Reconcile till activity and follow established close-down procedures at the end of trading.
• Report cash discrepancies, suspicious payment activity or system issues to the relevant supervisor.
• Maintain an organized and professional checkout area.
• Provide courteous service and resolve basic customer payment enquiries.
• Support sales opportunities by directing customers toward relevant promotions or available products.
• Follow company policies for cash handling, security and customer service.
• Work cooperatively with showroom colleagues, supervisors and loss prevention teams.
• Set annual performance goals with the reporting manager and work toward agreed targets.
• Identify personal development needs and contribute to an individual development plan.
• Maintain awareness of new retail practices, service techniques and professional developments.
