Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead a large-scale rail project in Dubai, UAE. The role requires strategic leadership from conception through completion, managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relations while upholding strict safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has 20+ years in infrastructure/transportation PM, with railway project experience in the Middle East, TBM tunneling, and proficiency in PMI/PRINCE2 methodologies. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of progressive experience in large-scale infrastructure or transportation project management.
• Proven track record leading high-speed rail, rail transit, or complex transportation projects.
• TBM tunneling experience is a necessity.
• Advanced expertise in project management methodologies (PMI, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
• Strong financial acumen with multi-million dollar budgets and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all phases of the project, including planning, design, construction, and commissioning, aligning with objectives and timelines.
• Develop and manage comprehensive budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
• Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, contractors, and stakeholders for approvals and execution.
• Lead and mentor a diverse project team, fostering accountability and excellence.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks with proactive contingency planning.
• Monitor progress against schedules and KPIs, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Prepare and present detailed project reports to senior leadership and board members.
• Manage contract negotiations, procurement processes, and vendor relationships for delivery optimization.
• Champion innovation and best practices in delivery methodologies.
