Job summary

JobLeader in Dubai is seeking a professional Librarian to join our team and manage the library's collections and resources. The role encompasses overseeing acquisition, cataloging and circulation, and ensuring services meet patrons’ needs.

The successful candidate will work independently, provide reference assistance, train staff, and contribute to events and displays. A welcoming environment for immigrants with valid documentation is considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Knowledge of library software systems such as Evergreen or Koha is preferred but not required.
• Excellent customer service skills with an ability to interact positively with patrons of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the acquisition, cataloging and circulation of library materials.
• Maintain accurate records of library holdings.
• Develop policies and procedures related to library services.
• Provide reference services to patrons.
• Train library staff on the use of catalogs, databases and other information sources.
• Supervise staff in daily operations including shelving books, checking out materials, helping patrons with computer use and other tasks as needed.
• Create displays to promote materials or special collections.
• Assist with organizing events such as book clubs or story times.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
