Job summary

NMDC in the United Arab Emirates seeks a senior drafting lead to plan and allocate work, review deliverables, and coordinate with engineering and project teams throughout the lifecycle. You will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant production of engineering drawings and provide guidance to the drafting group.

The role requires a Technical Diploma/Certificate in Engineering Drafting, CAD/3D modelling certification, and at least 10 years of drafting experience in industrial sectors.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma/Certificate in Engineering Drafting or equivalent.
• Relevant CAD/3D modelling certification preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in drafting/design within engineering, construction, marine, offshore or similar industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate drafting activities across projects to meet schedules and quality standards.
• Review scope, specs and requirements and translate into drafting work packages.
• Allocate work based on workload and project needs, ensuring timely delivery.
• Act as final drafting checker for accuracy, consistency and compliance.
• Coordinate with engineers to resolve queries and implement design changes.
• Prepare General Arrangement Drawings and 3D models as required.
• Ensure interfaces are properly integrated across disciplines.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to drafting personnel.

Job description

To lead discipline‑specific drafting activities by planning and allocating work, reviewing technical deliverables, coordinating with engineering and project teams, and ensuring accurate, timely and compliant production of engineering drawings throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate discipline-specific drafting activities across assigned projects and ensure deliverables meet agreed schedules and quality standards.
• Review project scope, specifications and engineering requirements and translate them into clear drafting work packages and deliverables.
• Allocate drafting activities to team members based on workload, competence, priorities and project requirements.
• Act as the final drafting checker for assigned deliverables, ensuring accuracy, consistency, completeness and compliance before formal issue
• Coordinate with discipline engineers to resolve technical queries, drawing discrepancies and design changes within the drafting scope.
• Prepare and review General Arrangement Drawings, detailed drawings, material take-offs, 3D models and other discipline‑specific deliverables as required.
• Coordinate drafting activities with other disciplines to ensure interfaces, design changes and project information are properly integrated.
• Support project and construction teams by resolving drawing‑related queries and ensuring approved changes are incorporated into project documentation.
• Monitor drafting progress, identify resource or schedule constraints and take corrective action to maintain timely delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to drafting personnel while ensuring compliance with drafting standards, quality procedures, document control and HSE requirements.
  

Qualifications:

• Technical Diploma/Certificate in Engineering Drafting, Design, CAD or equivalent professional qualification.
• Relevant CAD, 3D modelling or discipline‑specific design certification is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in drafting/design roles within engineering, construction, marine, offshore or similar industries.
• Proven experience leading or coordinating drafting teams and checking engineering deliverables.
• Supervisory experience and team‑leader.
