Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning, Urban or related field (master's a plus).
• Extensive experience in environmental planning, management, sustainability or related discipline.
• Proven leadership of environmental assessments, planning projects or compliance initiatives.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, impact assessment procedures and sustainable development.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Environmental Planning to lead environmental planning initiatives, oversee sustainability strategies, and ensure environmental considerations are integrated into organizational projects and operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, technical expertise in environmental management, and the ability to balance business objectives with environmental protection and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement environmental planning strategies aligned with organizational objectives and sustainability goals.
• Oversee environmental assessments, impact studies, and planning activities for development and infrastructure projects.
• Ensure projects comply with applicable environmental legislation, planning regulations, and sustainability standards.
• Lead environmental planning teams and coordinate activities with engineering, construction, operations, and project management departments.
• Evaluate potential environmental risks associated with land use, development projects, and operational activities.
• Establish environmental management policies, procedures, and performance standards.
• Review environmental reports, technical assessments, project proposals, and planning documentation.
• Collaborate with government agencies, environmental authorities, consultants, and other stakeholders on environmental planning matters.
• Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impacts through resource conservation, pollution prevention, and sustainable development practices.
• Monitor environmental performance indicators and evaluate progress toward sustainability objectives.
• Oversee environmental monitoring programs, compliance reviews, and corrective action plans.
• Provide strategic advice to senior management on environmental risks, regulatory developments, and sustainability opportunities.
• Manage environmental planning budgets, project resources, and external consultancy services.
• Lead stakeholder consultations and communicate environmental planning requirements to relevant parties.
• Monitor emerging environmental policies, technologies, and industry best practices to strengthen organizational performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Natural Resource Management, or a related field; a master's degree is an advantage.
• Extensive experience in environmental planning, environmental management, sustainability, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading environmental assessments, planning projects, or environmental compliance initiatives.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, impact assessment procedures, and sustainable development principles.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, project budgets, and stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
• Ability to interpret technical environmental reports, regulatory requirements, and planning documentation.
• Familiarity with environmental management systems, monitoring tools, and relevant industry standards.
• Professional certifications or registrations in environmental management or planning are an advantage where applicable.
