Design Manager / Project Manager – Data Centre & Mission‑Critical Facility Projects
We own end‑to‑end project delivery for large, multidisciplinary datacentre and mission‑critical facility projects, responsible for scope definition, schedule management, integrated design quality, client engagement, and commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end‑to‑end project delivery from concept development to final close‑out, including design coordination, construction support, commissioning coordination, and client interface.
- Lead all technical disciplines (Mechanical/HVAC, Electrical, ELV/IBMS, Architecture, Structural, Civil) and coordinate third‑party consultants and stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain structured coordination processes, resolve cross‑discipline conflicts, and ensure all outputs (SLDs, P&IDs, layouts, specifications) are coordinated and constructible.
- Manage financial performance and profitability, track schedule performance, and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary client interface, leading design review meetings, executive steering committees, and managing expectations.
- Guide multidisciplinary teams toward optimal, integrated design solutions aligned with project objectives.
- Support the Project Manager with monthly reporting (budget vs actual, timesheets, utilization, EVM reports, P&L reports).
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary project team, fostering collaboration and growth.
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge in HVAC & mechanical systems, electrical power systems, ELV/IBMS, architecture, and structural design.
- Extended familiarity with datacentre standards (TIA‑942, Uptime Institute Tier III/IV, ASHRAE 90.4, fire codes) and UAE regulatory landscape.
- Experience reviewing and understanding design outputs such as SLDs, P&IDs, BIM models, equipment schedules, and technical specifications.
Project & Delivery Management
- 8+ years of project management or design management experience, with at least 5 years managing datacentre or mission‑critical facilities.
- Proven track record delivering large, multidisciplinary projects on schedule and within budget.
- Experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering teams across multiple geographies.
- Ability to identify schedule/budget risks early and implement corrective action.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services (or equivalent).
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification (strongly preferred).
- Hands‑on experience in hyperscale or mission‑critical datacentre projects.
- Familiarity with Uptime Institute certification processes (ATD, ATS, CAP, ICCA).
- Experience with global project delivery across multiple time zones.
- Knowledge of UAE regulatory landscape and authority approval processes (DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence).
- Experience with BIM workflows and coordination (Revit, Navisworks, or equivalent).
- Good to have experience with integrated project delivery (IPD) or collaborative design methodologies.
