Job summary

Blue Hat HR Services seeks an experienced Design Manager for a leading UAE-based specialist in architectural aluminium, glass, façade engineering and metal fabrication. Dubai location, permanent role, leading multidisciplinary teams through design and delivery cycles.

The role involves reviewing architectural and structural drawings, coordinating with clients and engineers, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. 8+ years in the sector with 3+ years in a leadership capacity are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Architectural Engineering from a recognized university.
• 8+ years in construction, contracting, aluminium, glass or façade; 3+ years in Design Manager role within GCC.
• Strong knowledge of curtain wall, glazing, cladding and façade engineering principles.
• Proficiency in BIM software (Autodesk Revit) and MS Office; ERP experience is a plus.
• Valid UAE driving license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Design Department to deliver high‑quality façade designs.
• Review drawings to develop cost‑effective façade solutions.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants and Clients to clarify technical requirements.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings and material submittals.
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, standards and local authority regulations.
• Supervise design calculations, material take-offs and engineering documentation.
• Monitor design schedules and allocate resources to meet milestones.
• Provide technical guidance to Design Engineers, BIM Modelers and Draftsmen throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with Production and Site teams to ensure designs are suitable for fabrication and installation.
• Review design changes and value engineering proposals to optimize project performance.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards and HSE requirements.
• Conduct design review meetings and resolve issues with stakeholders.

Our client is a leading UAE-based specialist in architectural aluminium, glass, façade engineering and metal fabrication solutions with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility delivering landmark projects across the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Design Department to ensure timely delivery of high-quality design solutions for aluminium, glass projects.
• Review architectural, structural and tender drawings to develop practical and cost-effective façade designs.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants and Clients to clarify technical requirements and design specifications.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings and material submittals.
• Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, international standards and local authority regulations.
• Supervise the preparation of design calculations, material take-offs and engineering documentation.
• Monitor design schedules and allocate resources to meet project milestones and deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance and support to Design Engineers, BIM Modelers and Draftsmen throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with Production and Site teams to ensure designs are suitable for fabrication and installation.
• Review design changes, value engineering proposals and technical queries to optimize project performance.
• Ensure compliance with company quality procedures, ISO standards and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements.
• Conduct design review meetings and resolve technical issues with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders.

Required Qualification / Experience / Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering , Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the Construction, Contracting, Aluminium, Glass or Façade industry, including at least 3 years in a Design Manager or similar leadership role within GCC.
• Strong knowledge of architectural aluminium systems, curtain wall, glazing, cladding and façade engineering principles.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, design calculations and material submittals.
• Proficiency in BIM software like Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office are essentials.
• Experience with ERP systems is an added advantage.
• Valid UAE driving license is preferred.
