Job summary

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering in the UAE seeks a Design Lead Primary to review and execute primary engineering activities for GIS Substation Projects across multiple domains. You will lead a team of design engineers and drafters, coordinate with inter-departmental checks, and ensure on-time, within-budget delivery with high quality.

The role requires 10+ years in primary design engineering, strong knowledge of substation layouts, grounding, cabling, and inter-disciplinary coordination with civil,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in Primary Design Engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Review of Engineering documents and assign to local adaptation consultants for language translation and compliance.
• Coordinate with Uzbekistan based contractor for construction issues.
• Coordinate with ACWA and NEGU teams for drawing approvals.
• Timely delivery of engineering drawings and documents.
• Ensure deliveries align with project schedules.
• Review primary drawings and sizing calculations and obtain client approvals.
• Review vendor deliverables pertaining to Primary Engineering.
• Capable of multitasking and delivering multiple items on time.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines for inter-departmental checks.
• Provide support and clarifications to Site Execution team.
• Check pre-award evaluation of vendors against client specifications and forward validation to Supply Chain Management.
• Inspect equipment from finalized vendors after validation submission.
• Clarify design and client requirements to Site Execution Team.
• Collect inputs for project details from client.
• General Arrangement drawings from vendors; check deliverables for construction readiness.

Job description

As Design Lead Primary the person shall be capable of reviewing amp executing Primary Engineering Activities for AIS GIS Substation Projects covering multiple geographical domains He must have good knowledge in Layout Engineering in Substation Projects He shall facilitate the modellers in development of BIM 3D Model for Substations In addition she he must coordinate with other departments including Inter-departmental checks covering Electrical Civil Structural MEP and others The Design Lead Primary shall be required to provide support for the engineering activities covering the full cycle of works from pre-bid engineering to support during commissioning and warranty periods and to extend support to site team She He shall lead a team of Design Engineers and Draughtspersons to manage the Engineering activities within budget deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Review of Engineering document prepared at Remote Engineering office India amp assigning the same to Local Adaptation consultant for Language Translation amp compliance to local Standard
• Co-ordinating with Uzbekistan based contractor for construction work and supporting them for solving construction issue
• Co-odinating with ACWA and NEGU team for getting drawing approval for construction activities
• Timely Delivery of Engineering Drawings amp Documents
• Ensure deliveries are aligned to Project Schedule
• Seek and obtain spatial requirements and details of cut-outs and openings from the Design Lead Secondary and incorporate into relevant Drawings Review primary drawings by Design Engineers amp Draughtspersons amp checking of design amp sizing calculations of primary engineering electrical equipment and obtaining approvals from the client
• Review of Vendor deliverables pertaining to Primary Engineering
• Capable of Multitasking and deliver multiple things on time
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines for ensuring inter-departmental checks
• Provide support amp clarifications to the Site Execution team
• Check pre-award evaluation of vendors w r t technical specifications requirement of the client and forward the validation document to Supply Chain Management
• Inspect equipment from the finalized vendor after submission of validation document of the vendor
• Clarify issues w r t the design amp requirements of the client to the Site Execution Team
• Collect inputs for project details plot details feeder arrangements etc from client
• Project Engineering Manager Coordinating with Operations team and informing Design specifications for obtaining approval Collect inputs for project details
• General Arrangement Drawings from Vendors Check deliverables prepared by Engineering office and suitability for construction such as Equipment layouts Cable Routing Layout Cable Tray Layout Earthing Layout lighting Layout Lightning Protection Layout Provide support to secondary team for reviewing Vendor drawings Submit requirement of man-hours for undertaking amp reviewing of design amp drawings of the project

Technical Expertise

The Design Lead Primary is required to have an overall knowledge of equipment layouts and necessary calculations The Design Lead Primary should also have detailed knowledge of Substation equipment and their Layouts Furthermore she he should have the understanding of primary engineering activities covering SLD Preparation Layout Engineering Earthing Cable Routing Lighting Lightning Protection Cable Tray Routing etc He should be capable of performing design amp sizing calculations of Busbar UPS DG LT Transformer Earthing Conductor calculations Short circuit force Sag tension CCC etc The Design Lead Primary is required to have knowledge on National and International Codes and Standards The Design Lead Primary is required to understand and interpret the contractual technical requirements and facilitate the Project Teams as and when required In addition the Design Lead Primary should also have an overall understanding of the inter-disciplinary Civil amp Structural Mechanical and Instrumentation design aspects of electrical equipment

Software Skills Required

General awareness of Dialux and MS Office Desirable awareness of BIM Digsilent PSCAD amp CYMGRD

Minimum Qualification

Minimum Qualification : B.E. / B. Tech., Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering Experience: 10+ years (Predominantly in Primary Design Engineering activities)
