Job summary

Tanqeeb is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 2–5 years of fire protection design experience in the UAE. The role involves designing sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, wet/dry riser and pump systems, performing hydraulic calculations, and coordinating with project teams.

You will prepare drawings, technical submittals and BOQs while ensuring compliance with NFPA, UAE codes and Civil Defence requirements. Proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM tools is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Fire Fighting / Fire Protection System Design.
• Strong experience in designing sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, wet riser, and fire pump systems.
• Hands-on experience in hydraulic calculations.
• Proficiency in NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20 and related standards.
• Good knowledge of UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and Civil Defence requirements.

• Design complete fire fighting and fire protection systems for commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

• Prepare layouts and designs for:

  • Automatic sprinkler systems

  • Fire hose reel systems

  • Fire hydrant systems

  • Wet riser and dry riser systems

  • Fire pump systems

  • Fire water storage tanks

  • Fire water piping networks

• Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler, hydrant, and fire water systems.

• Carry out pipe sizing, pressure loss calculations, pump head calculations, and water demand calculations.

• Prepare design drawings, shop drawings, schematics, riser diagrams, and technical details.

• Review project specifications, architectural drawings, MEP drawings, and tender documents.

• Select appropriate fire fighting equipment, valves, pumps, sprinklers, hydrants, and accessories.

• Prepare BOQs, material take-offs, and technical schedules.

• Prepare technical submittals, datasheets, compliance statements, and design documentation.

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, architects, MEP engineers, and project teams.

• Review consultant comments and revise designs accordingly.

• Support project and site teams with technical clarifications and design modifications.

• Coordinate fire fighting systems with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and architectural services.

• Ensure all designs comply with NFPA standards, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, Civil Defence requirements, and project specifications.

• Support authority submissions and approvals when required.

• Provide technical assistance during installation, testing, commissioning, and project handover.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Fire Fighting / Fire Protection System Design.

• Strong experience in designing sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, wet riser, and fire pump systems.

• Hands-on experience in hydraulic calculations.

• Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, and related fire protection standards.

• Good knowledge of UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and Civil Defence requirements.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Experience with hydraulic calculation software such as Elite Fire, AutoSPRINK, HydraCALC, or equivalent will be an advantage.

• Knowledge of Revit / BIM will be an added advantage.

• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.

• Previous experience with a Fire Fighting, Fire Protection, or MEP company is preferred.

• Strong technical, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
