Your impact

Jacobs is looking for a talented Architectural Design Director, to join our Cities and Places team in Dubai. You will have the opportunity to lead and deliver the design of challenging buildings projects, mixed-use developments, and unique places of human interaction. You will be responsible for managing the design cross functional, multi-disciplinary teams, with the ability to provide direction across the team to ensure delivery of client projects whilst developing new business.

In addition to the above, you will be working on the following:

• Continuously improve industry knowledge & build staff capabilities within the practice by leading, coaching, and mentoring the architectural team.
• Support Jacobs C&P team to grow technical knowledge and facilitate professional development.
• Responsible for the design leadership on C&P projects.
• Engage with Client as a Jacobs Design Lead.
• Prepare and present design ideas and design progress, supported by a design team, to the Client.
• Spear head technical issues and guide teams towards resolutions / solutions.
• Build / Assist / Review systems and processes that allow design improvements and growth to operate optimally.
• Review and guide work at multi-disciplinary level, to ensure the required quality is achieved in design and documentation.
• Strategize design delivery for large projects and guide the management related to required skillsets.
• Participating in regional design reviews.
• Planning & management of Design process from concept to construction documentation.
• Mentor junior staff and guide them towards professional excellence.
• Work closely with the Regional Director to improve design quality of the architectural design delivery of all projects.

Here’s what you'll need

As a successful candidate you will have a BS or MS degree in Architecture or Engineering, from a recognized university, with hands on experience on Mega projects. You will ideally have experience from the Middle East, in the capacity of a Design Director. It is important that you can demonstrate a strong knowledge of recognized design management control principles, with the ability to motivate others and work to tight deadlines. You will have excellent client management skills and have the capacity to work with and lead diverse teams when under pressure whilst always being commercially savvy, in what is considered a rapidly changing sector. An internationally recognized professional registrations would be a plus.
