About the Role
- We’re looking for a Data Engineer (2–5 years’ experience) who is passionate about working with data, learning new technologies, and contributing to real-world data platforms.
- You’ll support the design, development, and optimisation of scalable data pipelines, build integrations across cloud systems, and learn how raw data becomes business insight.
- You’ll also have the opportunity to work on projects that connect to machine learning and predictive analytics pipelines, helping transform business data into intelligent decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipelines: Assist in building and maintaining reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Matillion, or Databricks.
- Data Warehousing: Support development and maintenance of Redshift-based data warehouses and related analytical layers.
- Data Modelling: Help design logical and physical data models that make reporting faster and more meaningful.
- Data Integration: Work with APIs, databases, and flat files to consolidate and prepare data from multiple sources.
- Automation & Scripting: Write SQL queries and Python scripts to clean, transform, and validate data.
- Performance & Monitoring: Learn to monitor pipeline health and identify opportunities for optimisation using DataOps practices.
- Collaboration: Partner with senior engineers, analysts, and data scientists on data-driven solutions and machine learning pipeline preparation.
- Continuous Learning: Stay curious—participate in code reviews, internal workshops, and mentorship sessions to deepen your technical foundation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 0–3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related technical work
- Solid SQL skills and an understanding of relational databases
- Basic proficiency in Python for data manipulation or automation
- Familiarity with AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue) or another major cloud platform
- Interest in data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Matillion)
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a remote environment
Nice to Have
- Exposure to CI/CD practices or version control (Git)
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows or interest in developing skills in this area
- Cloud or data engineering certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate, Azure Data Fundamentals)
