Job summary

Alibaba Cloud in Dubai seeks a Technical Leader to drive data center operations across regional collocation facilities. You will lead a team of engineers and consultants, coordinate change management, and ensure SLA adherence with vendors in normal and emergency operations.

This role requires a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, cloud technologies, and IT service delivery, with up to 50% travel. Mandarin is a plus for HQ coordination in China.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
• 5+ years experience of global large data center facility operation (10+MW) as team leader.
• Deep knowledge of Data Center mechanical, electrical, fire system and controls systems.
• Functional knowledge of cloud technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices.
• Highly driven, self-managed individual with strong problem analysis and critical thinking.
• Knowledge of data center construction procedures.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (25% to 50%+ at times).
• Familiar with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese is a plus as the role will need to coordinate with HQ in China.

Responsibilities

• Define data center operations and develop Change Management procedures and tools, SOP and EOP for regional collocation DC facilities.
• Lead team and consultants to implement data center operations in normal and emergency situations.
• Ensure vendors adhere to SLAs per contractual terms in collocation DCs.
• Provide construction administrative support to project manager through schematic design to commissioning.
• Analyze energy efficient solutions to minimize power losses.
• Develop detailed scripts for change management request (CMR) activities.
• Travel to data center sites for engineering studies, electrical audits, startup testing, and commissioning.
• Provide electrical mission critical system review services to global datacenter teams.
• Participate in RCA for power outages or equipment failures.
• Provide instructions to vendors and on-site contractors and validate quality of work.
• Respond to emergencies in regional Alibaba DCs as needed.

• Collaborate with internal/external stake-holders to define data center operations and develop Change Management procedures and tools, SOP and EOP of regional collocation DC facilities.
• Technical leader managing team and consultants to implement the data center operations in normal and emergency situations.
• Technical leader managing the collocation DCs to ensure vendors are adhering to the SLAs per contractual terms.
• Provide construction administrative support to the project manager during construction. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to assist with new DC projects through schematic design, design development, to construction documents, and commissioning phases.
• Provide and analyze energy efficient solutions to minimize power losses.
• Review and develop detailed scripts for change management request (CMR) activities.
• Travel to data center sites for engineering studies, electrical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning, as required.
• Provide electrical mission critical system review services to the global datacenter engineering teams.
• Participate in equipment failure or power outage related incident Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA).
• Provide instructions to vendors, installation contractors and validate quality of vendor works on site.
• Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies in regional Alibaba DCs, including traveling to site and to provide on-site support.
