ADG seeks a Data Customer Engineer to be the technical authority across data architecture, analytics, and pre-sales. You will own client relationships through discovery, whiteboarding, and solution validation, translating business problems into scalable data platforms.

You will design PoCs, manage technical proposals, and work with sales and delivery teams to ensure timely, secure data solutions and smooth post-sales transitions.

About the Role

As a Data Customer Engineer at ADG, you will serve as a premier technical authority and trusted advisor, operating at the intersection of enterprise data architecture, strategic consulting, and technical pre-sales. You will own the technical relationship with prospective and existing clients across the entire customer lifecycle, from initial technical discovery and data architectural whiteboarding to solution validation and commercial closure. By translating ambiguous business problems into resilient, scalable, and secure data platforms and analytics pipelines, you will be the driving force behind positioning ADG as an essential cloud data partner.

This role encompasses end-to-end pre-sales execution. You will get hands-on with technology by designing, developing, and deploying high-impact technical assets, interactive data demonstrations, and bespoke Proofs of Concept (PoCs) that validate complex data architectures and de-risk customer adoption. In parallel, you will drive technical proposal management, spearheading rigorous responses to RFPs, RFQs, and strategic tenders related to data migrations and analytics workloads. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with Technical Sales and Delivery teams, you will guide C-level executives and engineering teams through complex decisions, formulate accurate data solution sizing and pricing, and facilitate a flawless transition into post-sales implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Pre-sales Execution: Partner with technical Sales teams throughout the sales cycle to qualify opportunities, lead technical discovery, conduct whiteboarding sessions, and differentiate ADG's data and analytics capabilities.

• PoCs & Technical Prototyping: Design and build rapid prototypes, Proofs of Concept (PoCs), reusable data architectural assets, and interactive demonstrations to validate customer requirements and secure technical wins.

• Tender & Proposal Management: Lead the technical authoring and architectural strategy for RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and complex enterprise tenders, delivering rigorous data infrastructure sizing, bill of materials (BOM), and deployment roadmaps.

• Data Architecture & Strategy: Formulate long-term technical strategies that modernize customer data environments (e.g. migrating legacy data warehouses to modern cloud data lakes/lakehouses), uncover new analytics/ML workloads, and unlock business value.

• Customer Advisory & Workshops: Facilitate architectural reviews, deep-dive workshops, and executive briefings with customer data engineering leads, data architects, and C-level stakeholders.

• Handoff & Transition Planning: Coordinate with delivery, migration, and professional services teams to package the agreed data solution into actionable delivery plans, supporting pricing, statement of work (SOW) alignment, and post-sales onboarding.

Technical Expertise

• Certifications: Active cloud data architect or data engineering certification with major hyperscalers (e.g. Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics, or Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate).

• Core Data Architecture: Demonstrated experience with data warehousing (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift), data lakes, ETL/ELT data integration, and streaming data ecosystems (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka), alongside experience migrating data applications and services to the cloud.

• Hands-on Prototyping & Development: Practical experience with modern data programming or scripting languages (e.g. Python, SQL, Scala, Bash), infrastructure as code, and building functional data pipelines, PoCs, or analytics dashboards.

• Data Security & Governance: Expertise in data security concepts, including data encryption, identity management, access control, data loss prevention (DLP), and regulatory compliance frameworks.

• Systems & Development: Practical experience in data modeling, query optimization, debugging data pipelines, systems design, and building technical prototypes or demonstrations.

• Pre-sales & Advisory: Prior background serving in a dedicated Data Architect, Data Engineer, or deeply technical pre-sales capacity.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Proven experience engaging with, and presenting complex data architectures to, technical stakeholders, business partners, and executive leaders.
