About the Role
The Credit Analyst position is a full-time, onsite role based at a leading banking institution in Sharjah, UAE. This mid-level professional role is responsible for conducting comprehensive credit assessments of individuals and organizations, supporting prudent lending decisions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position plays a critical part in managing credit risk, maintaining portfolio quality, and contributing to the bank’s overall financial stability and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed financial analysis of loan applicants, including individuals, SMEs, and corporate entities, to assess creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
- Prepare thorough credit proposals and risk assessments, incorporating quantitative and qualitative data, and present recommendations to credit committees.
- Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and business plans to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Conduct due diligence on applicants, including background checks, industry analysis, and verification of collateral and supporting documentation.
- Monitor existing loan portfolios, track payment performance, and proactively identify early warning signs of credit deterioration.
- Ensure all credit assessments and documentation comply with UAE Central Bank regulations, internal policies, and international best practices.
- Collaborate closely with relationship managers, risk management, and legal teams to structure appropriate credit facilities and mitigate risk.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and regional economic trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes impacting credit risk.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting portfolio performance, risk concentrations, and recommendations for action.
- Participate in internal audits, regulatory reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance credit processes and controls.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience (typically 2-5 years) as a credit analyst or in a similar credit risk assessment role within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial statements, conduct ratio analysis, and evaluate cash flows.
- In-depth understanding of credit risk principles, lending products (including personal, SME, and corporate loans), and collateral evaluation.
- Familiarity with UAE banking regulations, Central Bank guidelines, and local market practices.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, credit scoring techniques, and risk rating methodologies.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with credit analysis software and banking systems is highly advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear credit reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
