Role Context

The Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating complex retinal disorders, performing advanced surgical procedures, and ensuring optimal visual outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform vitreoretinal surgeries including vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, and macular procedures
• Diagnose and treat conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal vascular diseases
• Conduct laser photocoagulation, intravitreal injections, and other advanced treatments
• Utilize advanced imaging technologies including OCT, FFA, ICG, and wide‑field imaging
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary ophthalmology teams for comprehensive patient care
• Participate in clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
• Contribute to training and mentoring of junior staff
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to healthcare standards
