About the Role

The Consultant Uro-Oncology Surgeon will provide specialist surgical management for patients with complex urological malignancies, with particular emphasis on robotic-assisted procedures and minimally invasive uro-oncology. The role requires advanced surgical judgment, demonstrated robotic expertise, and close coordination with medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and other specialists. The consultant will manage patients through surgical evaluation, operative treatment, post-operative care, and management of potential complications.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage patients with prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancers.
• Perform advanced robot-assisted uro-oncological procedures.
• Undertake minimally invasive and laparoscopic urological surgery where appropriate.
• Perform robotic radical prostatectomy and other complex prostate cancer procedures.
• Manage renal malignancies through appropriate surgical interventions, including partial and radical nephrectomy.
• Provide surgical management for bladder malignancies, including radical cystectomy.
• Evaluate patients and develop individualized uro-oncology surgical treatment plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary uro-oncology tumor boards.
• Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists.
• Provide comprehensive pre-operative assessment and post-operative management.
• Identify and manage surgical complications while maintaining high standards of patient safety.
• Apply evidence-based guidelines throughout uro-oncological care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement activities.
• Participate in teaching and relevant clinical research.
