Overview
This senior physician role is located in Dubai but provides clinical services for a prestigious hospital in Abu Dhabi. The consultant will support advanced diagnosis, treatment planning, neurodiagnostic review, family counseling and multidisciplinary pediatric neuroscience care.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage pediatric neurological disorders including epilepsy, developmental delay, neuromuscular disease, chronic headaches, movement disorders and neurogenetic conditions.
- Conduct detailed neurological assessments for infants, children and adolescents, including clinical examination, medical history review, developmental evaluation and symptom analysis.
- Interpret diagnostic investigations such as EEG, MRI, CT scans, laboratory results, and other neurophysiological studies to support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and long‑term care strategies based on each child’s condition, age, developmental stage, family needs and clinical risk profile.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurology cases, including urgent neurological presentations and ongoing follow‑up care.
- Collaborate closely with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, geneticists, nurses, therapists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Provide clear counseling and education to patients and families regarding neurological diagnoses, medication plans, prognosis, therapy options, lifestyle guidance and long‑term care expectations.
- Support epilepsy management pathways, seizure care planning, medication adjustment, diagnostic monitoring and family safety education.
- Maintain accurate medical records, consultation notes, diagnostic interpretations, treatment plans, referral updates, and follow‑up documentation in line with hospital standards and UAE regulatory expectations.
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, research projects, conferences, academic teaching and continuing medical education programs.
- Stay updated with advances in pediatric neurology, neurogenetics, epilepsy care, pediatric neurophysiology and evidence‑based neurological treatment.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, pediatric neuroscience service development and multidisciplinary clinical governance.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree such as MBBS, MD or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution recognized by relevant UAE healthcare authorities.
- Board certification or fellowship in Pediatric Neurology.
- Valid DOH Consultant License or DOH Eligibility Letter in Pediatric Neurology preferred for Abu Dhabi‑based clinical service.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist in a reputed tertiary care or academic hospital.
- Strong expertise in pediatric neurological disorders, pediatric neurophysiology, neurodiagnostic procedures and long‑term childhood neurological care.
- Experience in epilepsy management and pediatric neurophysiology is highly valuable.
- Exposure to multidisciplinary pediatric neuroscience programs is an advantage.
- Research publications, academic involvement, conference participation or teaching experience are preferred.
- Western‑trained candidates are preferred.
- Excellent communication, analytical thinking, clinical documentation and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams in a multicultural healthcare environment.
