Overview
We are seeking a senior Western‑trained physician with advanced expertise in pediatric respiratory medicine, including asthma care, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, diagnostic testing, and long‑term pulmonary disease management. The consultant will provide expert care for children with acute and chronic respiratory disorders while contributing to multidisciplinary treatment planning, pulmonary healthcare programmes, medical education, and high‑quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized medical care for pediatric patients with respiratory disorders including asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, recurrent wheeze, chronic cough, and complex airway conditions.
- Conduct detailed medical assessments using clinical history, physical examination, pulmonary evaluation, diagnostic testing, and relevant investigations.
- Interpret diagnostic results including pulmonary function tests, imaging findings, laboratory results, sleep‑related assessments, and other respiratory investigations where required.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, age, disease severity, response to therapy, and family needs.
- Prescribe appropriate medications, inhaled therapies, airway clearance plans, long‑term pulmonary treatments, and follow‑up care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans according to symptoms, test results, complications, and clinical response.
- Manage acute and chronic pediatric respiratory conditions in outpatient, inpatient, and multidisciplinary settings.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, intensivists, ENT specialists, allergy specialists, respiratory therapists, nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support a multidisciplinary approach to care for children with complex respiratory, genetic, allergic, infectious, or chronic pulmonary conditions.
- Educate patients and families on disease management, inhaler technique, medication adherence, lifestyle adjustments, warning signs, and long‑term care planning.
- Stay updated on advancements in pediatric pulmonology and apply new evidence‑based techniques, therapies, and treatment pathways where appropriate.
- Participate in medical education and training for healthcare professionals, students, residents, and clinical staff.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pediatric pulmonary healthcare programmes and services.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records, consultation notes, treatment plans, prescriptions, follow‑up reports, and patient communication records.
- Support clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, patient safety activities, and professional development within the department.
- Follow hospital policies, clinical governance requirements, ethical practice, and healthcare standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of specialized training in pediatric pulmonology through diploma, board certification, fellowship, or equivalent recognised pathway.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience as a pediatric pulmonologist.
- Western education or training is required.
- Strong experience diagnosing and managing pediatric respiratory disorders such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, chronic cough, recurrent infections, and complex pulmonary conditions.
- Good understanding of pediatric pulmonary diagnostics, respiratory investigations, long‑term disease monitoring, and evidence‑based treatment planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast‑paced healthcare environment.
- Fluent English communication is required.
- Arabic language skills are an advantage.
