This consultant appointment provides specialist care for infants, children, and adolescents affected by inherited metabolic disorders, rare genetic syndromes, developmental delay, neuromuscular conditions, and abnormal newborn screening results. The physician will combine clinical assessment with biochemical, metabolic, and genetic data to establish accurate diagnoses and individualized care plans. Many patients require lifelong monitoring, emergency protocols, dietary management, family counseling, and coordinated treatment across several specialties. The consultant will therefore work closely with neonatology, pediatric neurology, clinical laboratories, dietetics, genetic counseling, intensive care, and other pediatric services to improve outcomes and reduce complications.
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and possess Board Certification, Fellowship, or an equivalent specialist qualification in Paediatric Metabolic Genetics, Clinical Genetics, Metabolic Medicine, or a closely related pediatric specialty. Candidates should have at least five to seven years of post-board experience at Consultant level within pediatric metabolic genetics. Previous work in a tertiary-care, academic, children's, or specialist referral hospital is strongly preferred. Applicants must demonstrate advanced knowledge of inherited metabolic disorders, pediatric genetic diseases, biochemical diagnostics, newborn screening, rare disease management, and metabolic emergency protocols. A valid Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence, eligibility letter, or confirmed eligibility to obtain one is required. Experience with genomic medicine, research publications, academic teaching, and rare disease programs would strengthen an application. The successful consultant will communicate sensitively with families, interpret complex clinical data accurately, and work effectively across a multicultural multidisciplinary environment.
This opportunity allows an experienced pediatric metabolic genetics consultant to manage rare and medically complex conditions within an advanced healthcare environment. The physician will have a direct impact on early diagnosis, emergency intervention, disease prevention, family understanding, and the long-term quality of life of young patients. The employment package may include a competitive tax-free salary, family benefits, medical insurance, annual airfare allowance, paid leave, and continuing medical education support. The role also provides scope to participate in research, specialist service development, genomic medicine, and academic training within Dubai's growing healthcare sector.
