Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex paediatric cardiac surgeries, including open‑heart procedures, valve repairs, congenital defect corrections, and advanced cardiac surgical interventions.
• Provide pre‑operative assessment, surgical planning, post‑operative care, ICU coordination, and long‑term follow‑up for paediatric cardiac patients.
• Manage infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart disease using evidence‑based surgical and multidisciplinary care pathways.
• Collaborate with paediatric cardiologists, anaesthesiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, nurses, and allied health teams to support safe surgical outcomes.
• Participate in emergency surgical interventions, on‑call rotations, and urgent cardiac care for high‑acuity paediatric cases.
• Review diagnostic findings, imaging reports, cardiac catheterization results, echocardiography data, and surgical risk factors before intervention.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, fellows, nurses, and clinical team members involved in paediatric cardiac surgery care.
• Contribute to departmental research, clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate surgical documentation, clinical notes, operative records, consent forms, and follow‑up plans in accordance with hospital policies.
• Support academic teaching, continuous medical education, innovation, and service development within advanced paediatric cardiac programs.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent with specialization in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery from a recognized institution.
• Board certification such as American Board, FRCS, Arab Board, or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Minimum 5–10 years of post‑fellowship experience in paediatric cardiac surgery.
• Proven record of successful surgical outcomes in high‑volume paediatric cardiac centers.
• Strong expertise in congenital heart surgery, open‑heart procedures, valve repair, and complex paediatric cardiac interventions.
• Experience in hybrid operating suites, advanced cardiac surgical facilities, or internationally accredited hospitals will be an advantage.
• Prior GCC healthcare experience is preferred.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills will be an asset.
• Strong leadership, communication, decision‑making, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
