Consultant Ophthalmologist – Glaucoma Care in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a specialized Hospital and Health Care opportunity for an experienced eye care physician with advanced expertise in glaucoma diagnosis, optic nerve disease, intra‑ocular pressure management, laser therapy, and glaucoma surgery. This role is suited for a consultant‑level ophthalmologist who can manage routine, complex, and refractory glaucoma cases while delivering patient‑centered care in a modern healthcare facility. The position focuses on preserving vision, reducing disease progression, and improving long‑term outcomes for patients with glaucoma and related optic nerve disorders. The selected consultant will perform comprehensive glaucoma assessments, provide medical and surgical treatment, use advanced diagnostic technologies, and work closely with multidisciplinary ophthalmology teams to support safe and effective eye care.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage all types of glaucoma, optic nerve disorders, ocular hypertension, and related eye conditions.
- Perform detailed glaucoma evaluations using visual field analysis, OCT interpretation, gonioscopy, intra‑ocular pressure assessment, and optic nerve examination.
- Provide medical treatment plans, laser therapies, and surgical interventions for glaucoma patients based on disease severity and patient needs.
- Perform glaucoma procedures such as trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device implantation, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and laser treatments.
- Manage complex, advanced, and refractory glaucoma cases requiring long‑term monitoring and specialist intervention.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, technicians, and multidisciplinary clinical teams for integrated patient care.
- Educate patients and families on glaucoma progression, medication compliance, surgical options, follow‑up schedules, and long‑term vision protection.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in line with DHA requirements, hospital protocols, and clinical governance standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research activities, CME programs, and departmental case discussions.
- Stay updated with advances in glaucoma diagnostics, surgical techniques, laser technologies, and minimally invasive glaucoma procedures.
Ideal Profile
- MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Board Certification or Fellowship in Ophthalmology.
- Subspecialty training or fellowship experience in Glaucoma.
- Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Consultant Ophthalmology.
- Minimum 5-7 years of post‑specialist experience in glaucoma management and surgery.
- Strong expertise in advanced glaucoma diagnostics, visual field interpretation, OCT review, gonioscopy, and intra‑ocular pressure assessment.
- Proven experience in trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device implantation, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and laser glaucoma procedures.
- Experience in tertiary eye care centers or academic institutions is an advantage.
- Exposure to advanced glaucoma technologies and modern surgical platforms is preferred.
- Research, teaching, and clinical audit experience will add value.
