This role is ideal for a Western-trained radiologist who can deliver accurate breast diagnostics, support multidisciplinary cancer care, and provide patient-centered communication within a modern hospital environment.
Role Context
The Consultant - Breast Radiologist will provide specialist diagnostic imaging services for patients requiring breast screening, diagnostic assessment, interventional procedures, and multidisciplinary treatment planning. The role requires strong expertise in mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, 3D mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, biopsies, needle localizations, and timely reporting. The consultant will work closely with breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, nurses, and referring physicians to support accurate diagnosis, early detection, treatment planning, and compassionate patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret mammograms, breast ultrasounds, breast MRIs, and advanced breast imaging studies.
- Provide expert breast imaging assessment for screening, diagnostic, follow-up, and pre-treatment evaluation cases.
- Use 3D mammography and digital breast tomosynthesis to support accurate breast cancer detection and diagnostic confidence.
- Conduct image-guided breast procedures including biopsies, needle localizations, and other approved interventional breast imaging procedures.
- Prepare accurate, timely, and clinically useful radiology reports for referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary meetings involving breast surgery, oncology, pathology, radiology, and nursing teams.
- Collaborate with clinicians to develop personalized diagnostic and treatment pathways for patients with benign and malignant breast conditions.
- Provide consultations to referring physicians regarding imaging findings, recommended follow-up, biopsy planning, and diagnostic clarification.
- Communicate with patients in a clear, respectful, and culturally sensitive manner, especially when explaining procedures and imaging pathways.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, ethical practice, informed consent, and patient dignity.
- Mentor junior radiologists, radiology trainees, and imaging staff through case review, reporting guidance, and professional support.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement, audit activity, imaging protocol review, reporting standards, and patient safety initiatives.
- Ensure breast imaging practice aligns with hospital policies, UAE licensing expectations, clinical governance standards, and international radiology best practice.
- Maintain accurate records of imaging reports, procedure notes, biopsy details, communication, and follow-up recommendations.
- Support service excellence in a state-of-the-art facility by using modern technology, efficient workflows, and collaborative clinical practice.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology.
- Subspecialty training in Breast Imaging.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Breast Radiologist.
- Western education or training is required.
- Proven expertise in mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, 3D mammography, and digital breast tomosynthesis.
- Strong experience performing image-guided breast procedures including biopsies and needle localizations.
- UAE license or eligibility for licensing is preferred.
- Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
- Strong ability to work within multidisciplinary cancer care teams and tumor boards.
- Excellent reporting accuracy, clinical judgment, communication skills, and patient-care approach.
