The Computer Science Teacher will deliver high‑quality lessons across secondary and A Level pathways, helping students develop programming knowledge, problem‑solving skills, algorithmic thinking, digital literacy, and confidence in advanced computing concepts. The role also supports curriculum planning, assessment review, data‑led intervention, enrichment activities, and strong academic outcomes within a British curriculum school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Computer Science lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum and A Level expectations.
- Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences that develop programming, computational thinking, logic, and problem‑solving skills.
- Support the development, review, and improvement of schemes of work for relevant year groups and courses.
- Use assessment data to identify students who require support and implement targeted action plans.
- Analyse department and school data to inform planning, intervention, reporting, and academic improvement.
- Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for students across different ability levels.
- Provide suitable support for SEN‑POD, gifted and talented, and EAL students within Computer Science learning.
- Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour, digital responsibility, and classroom engagement.
- Evaluate teaching and learning outcomes and adapt strategies to strengthen progress.
- Support IGCSE, A Level, IB Diploma, booster, revision, and enrichment sessions where applicable.
- Contribute to the school's CAS programme and wider digital learning opportunities.
- Use technology resources, software tools, and classroom accommodation effectively to create a stimulating learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, senior leaders, students, and parents to support academic success.
- Maintain professional standards, safeguarding responsibilities, school policies, and Aldar Education expectations at all times.
- Encourage students to apply computing knowledge to real‑world challenges, innovation, and future study pathways.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computing, Information Technology, or a related subject.
- PGCE, QTS, or another recognised teacher qualification.
- Minimum 6 years of teaching experience.
- Experience teaching the UK curriculum or English National Curriculum.
- Strong knowledge of A Level Computer Science content, assessment, programming, and examination preparation.
- Proven ability to raise standards, close learning gaps, and support student progress.
- Experience using data to guide lesson planning, intervention, assessment, and reporting.
- Ability to support diverse learners, including SEN‑POD, gifted and talented, and EAL students.
- Strong collaboration skills with the confidence to contribute to department planning and school improvement.
- Leadership experience or the ability to support academic development at different levels.
- Commitment to enrichment, revision support, digital learning, and wider school life.
- Passionate, caring, and professional approach to teaching and student wellbeing.
- Satisfactory references and police clearance required for appointment.
