Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver inspiring Computer Science lessons that help students achieve the best possible learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and apply it effectively in classroom teaching.
  • Plan, prepare, and present lessons that meet curriculum requirements and support the full ability range within the class.
  • Organise classroom provision, digital learning resources, displays, and teaching materials to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Motivate students through enthusiastic, imaginative, and technology‑enabled teaching strategies.
  • Develop students’ computational thinking, digital literacy, coding awareness, problem‑solving ability, creativity, and independent learning habits.
  • Observe and assess students in line with school assessment requirements.
  • Take responsibility for student progress, engagement, achievement, and classroom learning outcomes.
  • Use Target Tracker and assessment data to influence lesson planning, classroom provision, intervention, and student support.
  • Reflect on classroom provision, lessons taught, student progress, and learning outcomes, then adjust planning and resources accordingly.
  • Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that meet curriculum expectations.
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly to support student learning and school priorities.
  • Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff to support children’s development.
  • Work with parents to support student happiness, wellbeing, and academic success.
  • Provide feedback to parents and carers on student progress during Parent Teacher Conferences and other school meetings.
  • Meet with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required.
  • Embed the school’s teacher and learner values, language, and attitudes throughout the curriculum.
  • Support students for whom English is not their first language through accessible instruction and inclusive classroom strategies.
  • Follow the school’s behaviour policy and maintain high expectations for student conduct, self‑control, and independence.
  • Manage classes effectively using approaches appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate, and challenge learners.
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils while exercising appropriate authority within school policy.
  • Act as a positive role model by demonstrating the values, professionalism, and behaviour expected of students.
  • Work as part of a curriculum action group, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
  • Support school events, outings, activities, and wider enrichment opportunities, including occasional evening or weekend activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student achievement and wellbeing using school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate.
  • Run a weekly extracurricular activity each term.
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life, culture, and ethos of the school.
  • Uphold safeguarding, child protection, professional conduct, and school policy expectations at all times.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, ICT, Education Technology, or a related subject.
  • PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Minimum 1‑2 years of teaching experience.
  • Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • Experience in an international school environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum planning, classroom assessment, differentiated instruction, and student progress tracking.
  • Ability to create engaging Computer Science lessons that develop digital skills, computational thinking, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Passion for teaching and a clear commitment to educating the whole child.
  • High level of professionalism with strong consideration for student wellbeing and safeguarding.
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
