Job summary

YO IT Consulting in Dubai seeks a Competitive Programmer to design and implement custom checkers for problems with multiple valid outputs. You will validate correctness, edge cases, and formatting across diverse problem domains, contributing to AI training and evaluation workflows.

The role demands deep knowledge of C, algorithm analysis, and robust validation strategies, with an emphasis on adversarial testing, floating-point tolerance rules, and reliable test case design.

Qualifications

  • Strong competitive programming background with advanced problem-solving ability.
  • Expert proficiency in C.
  • Experience analyzing complex algorithms, constraints, and multiple solution paths.
  • Ability to convert mathematical or logical requirements into robust validation code.
  • Strong understanding of time complexity, space complexity, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with custom judges, special checkers, output validators, or testlib-style workflows.
  • Ability to detect subtle correctness issues and adversarial edge cases.
  • Experience validating constructive or optimization problems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom checkers for competitive programming problems with multiple valid outputs.
  • Implement accurate, efficient, and maintainable checker logic in C .
  • Review complex problem statements and identify all conditions required for a valid solution.
  • Evaluate participant submissions against formal constraints and expected properties.
  • Validate constructive, optimization, graph, combinatorial, and output-only problem solutions.
  • Handle alternative valid outputs without depending on one fixed reference answer.
  • Verify formatting, token structure, bounds, uniqueness, feasibility, and objective values.
  • Develop tolerance rules for floating-point or approximation-based outputs where required.
  • Identify malformed submissions, invalid states, impossible constructions, and hidden constraint violations.
  • Analyze edge cases that may cause false acceptance or false rejection.
  • Test checkers against correct, partially correct, adversarial, and intentionally malformed outputs.
  • Review problems sourced from platforms such as Codeforces and comparable programming environments.
  • Collaborate with project teams to clarify unclear requirements or ambiguous judging rules.
  • Recommend changes to problem statements when validation expectations are incomplete.

Job description

Role Context

The Competitive Coder will create and review checker programs used to validate solutions for algorithmic problems where more than one output may be correct. These tasks require careful interpretation of problem statements, constraints, accepted solution structures, numerical tolerances, and edge conditions. The specialist will help AI systems learn how experienced competitive programmers reason about correctness, adversarial cases, computational efficiency, and judge reliability. Each checker must distinguish valid outputs from incorrect submissions without rejecting legitimate alternative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Document checker logic, assumptions, accepted formats, failure conditions, and edge cases.
  • Explain technical decisions in clear written and verbal English.
  • Provide feedback to problem setters, testers, and reviewers on checker quality.
  • Suggest stronger test cases that expose weak or incorrect implementations.
  • Review existing checkers for logical flaws, performance problems, or incomplete validation.
  • Maintain consistent coding standards and meet delivery deadlines in a remote workflow.
  • Apply current competitive programming practices to checker design and submission validation.
Ideal Profile
  • Strong competitive programming background with advanced problem-solving ability.
  • Expert proficiency in C .
  • Experience analyzing complex algorithms, constraints, and multiple solution paths.
  • Ability to convert mathematical or logical requirements into robust validation code.
  • Strong understanding of time complexity, space complexity, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with custom judges, special checkers, output validators, or testlib-style workflows.
  • Ability to detect subtle correctness issues and adversarial edge cases.
  • Experience validating constructive or optimization problems is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to explain checker behavior, failure conditions, and technical assumptions clearly.
  • Meticulous attention to output consistency, numerical correctness, and formatting.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote and collaborative environment.
  • Able to produce dependable, well-documented code under tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience as a problem setter, tester, reviewer, or checker developer is preferred.
  • Experience with Codeforces or other major competitive programming platforms is advantageous.
  • Exposure to AI training, code evaluation, or model response review is beneficial but not required.
