About the position
The Communications Director – Fashion is a Senior Leadership role within Faux Consultancy and needs to act as a brand guardian of the agency.
The central focus of this role is to effectively lead the Fashion teams in the development and implementation of PR Strategies and Client Management.
The position requires creative problem-solving, strong people management skills, negotiation skills, and significant experience in the GCC Media and Influencer landscape.
In addition to the practical, external elements of this role, the Communications Director – Fashion is responsible for creating and maintaining a sense of team cohesion and motivating.
The new Communications Director will also be in constant liaison with other Senior Management team members, primarily the Founder & Managing Director, the Communications Director – Beauty & Jewellery and the Account Directors.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership
- Team leadership of the Fashion PR and Events & Production Teams.
- Active mentoring of senior team members to support the development of their management skills, and act as a central point for all other team members in general.
- Active contribution to the development of a positive workplace culture.
- PR Activities
- Strategic Oversight of all PR team activities.
- Development of new PR strategies.
- Development of strategies for major ‘moments’ or client activities.
- Personal attendance and involvement in client events to ensure the highest level of client servicing, and encourage long-term client retention.
- Constantly reinforce the ‘key pillars’ of the business through daily interactions with the team.
- Creative Development of new major projects, events and campaigns and the development of creative materials.
- Brand Guardianship
- Ensuring an ‘On-Brand Approach’ to all PR & Events work carried out with the agency.
- Effectively interpret the vision and values of the Founder & Managing Director.
- Act as an ambassador for the business within the industry.
- Act decisively in sensitive situations.
- Business Development
- Acting as an ambassador for the agency in pitch meetings with new brands, development of proposal decks, the securing of new clients, and management of their onboarding.
- Collaboration with the Finance and Admin Teams.
- Research, sourcing and onboarding of new agency partners and suppliers that can assist in the quality and efficiency of work being carried out by the team.
- Human Resources
- Ongoing collaboration with the HR Manager.
- Participation in the recruitment process.
- Proactive management of new Senior Team onboarding.
- Personal involvement in any HR action required within the team, alongside the agency’s HR Manager.
Valuable skills & experience in the role of Communications Director – Fashion
- At least 10 years of PR industry experience.
- At least 5 years as "Head of" or "Communications Director", specifically in the Fashion industry across the GCC.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to generate a sense of team cohesion and motivation.
- A strong understanding of the region’s media and influence landscape, with the ability to think creatively and generate strategies for clients that reflect the nuances of the GCC.
- Impeccable press and influencer relationships, holding a respected place within the GCC market.
- A calm and logical approach to creative problem solving and lateral thinking.
- Strong negotiation skills, to navigate the expectations and challenges of industry, team and clients.
- A strong creative viewpoint, with an understanding of global standard innovative brand activations.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- A strong sense of flexibility and adaptability, allowing for successful ‘pivoting’ of long-term strategies.
- A passion for mentoring, allowing for coaching and skill development of team members.
- Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritise very time-sensitive tasks at short notice.
- Strong relationship management skills that create a sense of confidence in clients, based on both professional conduct and a demonstration of personal investment in their success.
