Job summary

Petrofac in Abu Dhabi seeks a Manager for Commissioning to lead a multi-discipline team through commissioning of process plants, ensuring HSSE compliance, resource planning and on-time start-up. The role coordinates with clients, vendors and internal departments to deliver safe and reliable plant handover.

Responsibilities include developing commissioning strategies, schedules, procurement readiness, and post-start-up support, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of discipline Engineers in commissioning of process plants per client needs and HSSE standards.
• Assess work scope for each discipline, evaluate resources and constraints for execution.
• Develop integrated commissioning plans with scope, duration, interdependencies, resources and tools.
• Create commissioning schedules and prioritise system completion for construction wrap-up.
• Guide Commissioning Engineers on contract scope, battery limits, guarantees, and start-up procedures.
• Identify tools, temporary facilities and equipment needs; prepare procurement lists.
• Oversee planning, progress monitoring, cost control and client coordination.
• Prepare manpower allocation and coordinate interfaces with other departments.
• Ensure safety procedures and compliance during commissioning.
• Hold regular client reviews on HSE conformance and commissioning progress with vendors.
• Provide technical and manpower support during initial operations as required.
• handover plant to client in line with schedules and requirements.
• Coordinate home office commissioning activities across disciplines.
• Verify KPI data throughout project activities.
• Review test run procedures and operating manuals.
• Manage vendor schedules for pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up.
• Lead subcontractors for safe execution and adhere to schedule.
• Lead engineers/supervisors through pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up.
• Secure client approval for Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Operations procedures.
• Lead internal meetings to track progress and schedule constraints.
• Contribute to commissioning proposals during bidding stages.
• Inspect construction activities before system handover and enforce safety procedures.
• Monitor to ensure priority areas are addressed for smooth commissioning.
• Maintain presence on site to guarantee quality and progress.
• Identify system priorities and guide contractors accordingly.
• Record contractual deviations for claims.
• Control execution costs and resources within budget.
• Prepare integrated schedule with construction activities.
• Review subsystem limits and turnover philosophy.
• Review and support commissioning reports from engineers.
• Carry out other duties as required by supervisor.
