Commissioning Manager / Head of Department
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and /or ability required.
• Review and assess a project’s building envelope requirements and assist in the selection of building envelope components (including roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall systems). Review and critique project schematic drawings and specifications.
• Review the project architectural and structural drawings and provide recommendations relating to the building envelope systems and components. Provide comments on transition details, adequate surfaces to receive waterproofing materials, Building Code compliance, etc.
• Perform condition assessments of the building envelope which includes reviewing available documents, interviews with key personnel, site inspections and field-testing, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for how to repair or replace the failing components.
• Assist in training junior staff in the consulting, engineering, inspections and testing departments, through presentations, workshops and mentoring.
• Interact and collaborate effectively with internal and external team members to assure needs of the company are met.
• Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage challenges
• Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects within project requirements, budgets, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
• Preferred degrees: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering graduates.
• Working knowledge of various building envelope technologies and alternatives for roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall cladding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Preferred certifications: Engineer in Training (EIT); RCI Professional Registrations such as RRO, RRC, RWC, etc. Possibility of obtaining Professional Engineer or Registered / Licensed Architect certification is a plus.
• Minimum Five to Ten(5 to 10) years of experience in consulting, inspection and testing building envelope components including glass and glazing systems, roofing and waterproofing systems.
