Job Description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the UAE University has a vacancy for an experienced CNC Lab Technician (Machinist) to join the department immediately and support world leading research and teaching. You will be expected to be a hands on expert in the CNC laboratory and also in the conventional workshop and capable of delivering highly specialized technical support to the students and research group in the design and manufacturing. Experience and expertise will be required in mechanical assembly of experimental apparatus along with experience in CNC machinery, CAD and CAD/CAM software. You will provide training, guidance and specialist advice on laboratory techniques and testing to students and staff who will use this facility to conduct research. This will also include oversight for ensuring that appropriate safety procedures are followed in the laboratory.

Minimum Qualification

The successful applicant should be educated to BSc degree level, High Diploma or equivalent industrial experience. Good organizational skills are essential, together with the ability to understand and explain diverse technical and design problems to staff and students.

Preferred Qualification

You should be able to design, specify and manufacture, as appropriate, a range of mechanical parts/systems to a high degree of precision. You should also be able to program a CNC machine (both turning and milling) and implement the program. You should also be able to identify technical problems in CNC machines and solve the minor ones.
