A Sales Manager – Groups & Events is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and managing key accounts MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events), Corporate & Government segments. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and ensuring the successful execution of sales strategies in line with the hotel’s standards.

What will I be doing?

The Sales Manager – Groups & Events role requires a strategic approach to sales, market analysis, competitor activity to recommend strategies that keep the hotel a leader in the marketplace through the development of future and repeat business and customer engagement to position the hotel as a preferred destination for events & groups business. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Proactively source and secure new business in the Groups & Events segment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key Mice agencies, corporate clients, Government clients, and event planners.
  • Conduct sales calls, client meetings, site inspections, and hotel presentations to generate new business.
  • Represent the hotel at industry trade shows, networking events, and roadshows to increase brand awareness and market share.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with clients while ensuring profitability and alignment with hotel revenue strategies.
  • Build and nurture strong, long-term client relationships to ensure repeat business.
  • Provide personalized service and seamless communication to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Work closely with internal departments such as Events, Revenue and Operations to ensure smooth execution of group bookings and events.
  • Monitor competitor activities and market trends to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Management team to implement optimal pricing and yield strategies.
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets through proactive prospecting and strategic account management.
  • Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and market analysis to support strategic decision-making.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in proactive sales within hospitality industry, with strong local market knowledge, specializing in Groups & Events.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, with a focus on developing and maintaining high-value client relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of the groups & events markets, including key Mice agencies, corporate clients, government entities and event planners, both locally and internationally.
  • Strong knowledge of market trends, competitive landscape, and sales strategies specific to hospitality sector and event management.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple high-profile accounts and events simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinker with creativity and an innovative approach to sales, client engagement, and partnership development.
  • Formal training or certifications in Sales, Hospitality Management, or a related field are an advantage.
  • Formal sales training or equivalent certifications.
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong creativity and passion for service innovation.
  • Ability to manage stress in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
