Job summary

NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Clinical Social Worker (CSW) with valid DOH license to deliver individualized psychosocial care for patients with physical, emotional, or developmental needs.

You will conduct assessments, develop care plans, coordinate discharge, advocate for patients, and work with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining confidential records and upholding professional ethics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work.
  • Min 2 years experience as Clinical Social Worker in a healthcare setting.
  • Valid Home country Registration or License as Social Worker.
  • Excellent communication skills in Arabic language.
  • Preference to candidate with UAE experience.
  • Any nationality, but preference to native Arabic speakers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients and families.
  • Identify social, emotional, financial, family, and environmental factors affecting health and recovery.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counselling/support within the professional scope of practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized psychosocial intervention and care plans.
  • Support patients experiencing crisis, trauma, grief, abuse, neglect, family difficulties, or adjustment problems.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and ensure continuity of care after discharge.
  • Refer patients to appropriate government, community, rehabilitation, mental-health, welfare, and other support services.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights, safety, dignity, and access to healthcare and social resources.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical documentation and patient records.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and treatment planning.
  • Provide psychosocial education to patients and their families.
  • Assess safeguarding and social-risk concerns and elevate them according to facility policies and UAE requirements.
  • Follow professional ethics, confidentiality, informed-consent requirements, and the healthcare facility’s policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audits, staff education, and relevant professional development.
  • Provide general emotional support and reassurance to patients and families within the scope permitted (not therapeutic counselling unless trained/licensed).
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, clinical social workers, and hospital staff.
  • Maintain case files, update logs, document client interactions, and assist with data entry.
  • Research and coordinate available community resources, support services, and relevant agency contacts.
  • Help patients complete necessary forms, service applications, or paperwork for referrals and resource programs.
  • Conduct initial client interviews or gather demographic/social information for assessment purposes under supervision.
  • Assist the Social Worker in delivering psychosocial support services and follow-up with patients and families.
