Job summary

NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi seeks a clinical psychologist to join our psychiatry program, providing assessment, psychotherapy and preventive mental health care for inpatients and outpatients. The role works with psychiatrists under an integrated care model.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in clinical psychology, valid UAE licensing, and at least 2 years of experience, with fluent English and Arabic. Excellent communication and ethics are essential.

Responsibilities

• Uses behavioral methods to plan therapy frequency, intensity and duration.
• Performs psychometric testing for diagnosis and evaluation of therapy.
• Engages in research and educational activities to improve methods used with emotional disorders.
• Keeps current with ideas in personality development, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
• Provides community organization advice and participates in related psychological and welfare activities.
• Takes after-hours or weekend calls as required by cases or emergencies.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Participates in the diagnosis and therapy of psychiatric illness. Serves as a professional assistant to Psychiatrists who provide psychiatric care to inpatients and outpatients with mental or psychological illnesses; and engages in preventive care as a part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medicine.

Responsibilities

• Conducts psychiatric interviews and collects data for diagnostic purposes.

• Provides various psychotherapies, including individual, group and family therapies.

• Offers counseling for couples with marital conflicts.

• Uses behavioral methods for the treatment of children and adults and plans the frequency, intensity and duration of therapy.

• Performs psychometric (mental measuring) testing for diagnosis and evaluation of therapy.

• Engages in research and educational activities that will improve methods and techniques for the management of emotionally disturbed patients.

• Keeps current with ideas in the fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental disorders to assist in the planning of mental health progress.

• Provides advice to community organizations and participates in related psychological and welfare activities.

• Takes after hours or weekend calls as required by specific cases or in emergency situations as requested.

• Performs related duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

• To follow appropriate international guidelines, HAAD regulations and Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

• Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements.

• Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.

• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.

• Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.

Qualifications

• Valid DOH/DHA License as Clinical Psychologist to practice in the UAE.

• Masters degree in clinical psychology from a recognized college or university.

• Native Arabic Speaker required.

• At least with 2 years experience in the field of clinical psychology.

• Comprehensive knowledge of medical ethics with regard to the obligation to maintain work confidentiality.

• Working knowledge of intelligence, achievement, interest, personality and other psychological tests and measuring devices.

• Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

• Excellent command of oral and written English and Arabic language.

• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients and families.
