Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil/Structural Engineer to join its UAE business unit focusing on Engineering Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works for Oil and Gas projects. This is a full‑time onsite position in Sharjah, UAE.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our UAE Business Unit.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an international client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects. Services include engineering, project management, EPC contract management, supply chain, construction and commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices. Responsibilities

• Specialist Engineer in Engineering Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works of oil and gas projects
• Hands‑on experience in design of rotating equipment/dynamic foundations
• Experience in developing specification and design basis
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes (particularly American codes), standards, regulations and procedures
• Worked in STAAD / Foundation Design Suite software in Analysis & Design
• Hands‑on experience on model review in Navisworks/SP3D/E3D/PDS/PDMS platform is a must
• Experience preparing design calculations through Excel spreadsheets will be a plus
• Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract
• Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
• Carry out work in accordance with Wood and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
• Maintain the required technical quality of work
• Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
• Maintain planning and cost control on all scopes and provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel as required
• Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule
• Keep up‑to‑date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to discipline scope
• Review, prepare, check and/or approve work output of discipline assigned personnel
• Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review
• Maintain good communication with the client
• Maintain discipline filing system
• Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project

Qualifications

• Engineering degree
• Minimum B.Sc. Engineering in civil / structural
• Minimum 5 years post‑graduate experience
• Experience in the oil and gas industry
• Experience in the designation
