Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil/Structural Engineer to join its UAE business unit focusing on Engineering Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works for Oil and Gas projects. This is a full‑time onsite position in Sharjah, UAE.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our UAE Business Unit.
Our Clients and Projects
Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an international client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects. Services include engineering, project management, EPC contract management, supply chain, construction and commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices. Projects include both green‑field and brown‑field modification projects and integration of low‑carbon solutions to support the client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Responsibilities
- Specialist Engineer in Engineering Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works of oil and gas projects
- Hands‑on experience in design of rotating equipment/dynamic foundations
- Experience in developing specification and design basis
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes (particularly American codes), standards, regulations and procedures
- Worked in STAAD / Foundation Design Suite software in Analysis & Design
- Hands‑on experience on model review in Navisworks/SP3D/E3D/PDS/PDMS platform is a must
- Experience preparing design calculations through Excel spreadsheets will be a plus
- Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract
- Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
- Carry out work in accordance with Wood and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
- Maintain the required technical quality of work
- Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
- Maintain planning and cost control on all scopes and provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel as required
- Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule
- Keep up‑to‑date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to discipline scope
- Review, prepare, check and/or approve work output of discipline assigned personnel
- Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review
- Maintain good communication with the client
- Maintain discipline filing system
- Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project
Qualifications
- Engineering degree
- Minimum B.Sc. Engineering in civil / structural
- Minimum 5 years post‑graduate experience
- Experience in the oil and gas industry
- Experience in the designation
