Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Civil Inspector – Bridges to support bridge construction projects in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on inspecting foundations, piers, decks, joints, and related works to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, and requirements.

You will review IRs, submittals, and test records, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams on-site. The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree and has UAE bridge project experience, with strong communication skills and

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in bridge construction inspection.
• Experience with major infrastructure and structural projects.
• Good knowledge of reinforced concrete, piling, foundations, bridge decks, bearings, expansion joints, and associated bridge works.
• Ability to read and understand structural and civil drawings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor bridge construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Inspect structural works including foundations, piling, pile caps, abutments, piers, retaining walls, bearings, bridge decks, barriers, and expansion joints.
• Monitor reinforcement, formwork, embedded items, concrete placement, curing, and finishing works.
• Check line, level, alignment, dimensions, and elevations of bridge structures.
• Review Inspection Requests (IRs), method statements, shop drawings, material submittals, and technical submissions.
• Witness concrete and other required testing and verify test results and quality records.
• Inspect materials and ensure they comply with approved specifications and project requirements.
• Monitor construction activities and identify defects, non-conforming works, and site issues.
• Coordinate with the Surveyor, Contractor, Resident Engineer, Structural Engineer, and other site teams.
• Inspect waterproofing, drainage, joints, barriers, and other associated bridge works.
• Monitor interfaces between bridge structures, roads, utilities, tunnels, and other infrastructure works.
• Maintain daily inspection records, photographs, checklists, and quality documentation.
• Follow up on corrective actions and ensure non-conforming works are properly addressed.
