Job summary

Albatha Group is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Manager to lead substation civil works with a strong civil engineering background. You will oversee foundation work, buildings, trenches, and site roads, coordinating with electrical and design teams to meet project requirements.

The role requires 10–12 years in civil construction, with substations or power infrastructure exposure, and a proven track record with main contractors/EPCs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Relevant certifications in construction management, HSE, or project management are desirable.
• Professional certification or membership with a recognized engineering body is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead all civil construction work for substation projects from start to finish, ensuring the project stays on schedule.
• Supervise the construction of foundations for heavy equipment, control buildings, cable trenches, and site roads.
• Create weekly and monthly work plans, track progress, and fix delays.
• Manage subcontractors and site workers, ensuring proper tools, manpower and materials.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and design teams to match equipment requirements.
• Ensure compliance with drawings and quality standards; coordinate with inspectors for approvals.
• Maintain a safe site by enforcing rules, conducting risk assessments and stopping unsafe work.
• Act as main client/consultant contact on-site, attend progress meetings.
• Handle project handover with final punch lists and documentation.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Manager to lead and manage civil construction activities for Substation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong Civil Engineering background, proven experience in substation or power infrastructure projects, and solid knowledge of construction management, site execution, subcontractor management, quality, safety, and project coordination.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all civil works are executed safely, efficiently, within approved budgets and schedules, and in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Management: Lead all civil construction work for substation projects from start to finish, making sure the project stays on schedule and meets deadlines.
• Substation Civil Works: Supervise the construction of foundations for heavy equipment (like transformers and structures), control buildings, cable trenches, and site roads.
• Planning & Scheduling: Create weekly and monthly work plans, track daily progress, and quickly fix any issues that cause project delays.
• Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractors and site workers to ensure they have the right tools, manpower, and materials to do their jobs effectively.
• Team Coordination: Work closely with the electrical, mechanical, and design teams to make sure civil works match the equipment requirements perfectly.
• Quality Control: Ensure all construction work follows the approved engineering drawings and quality standards, and coordinate with inspectors for final approvals.
• Site Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety rules, conducting risk assessments, and stopping any unsafe work immediately.
• Client Relations: Act as the main point of contact for the client and consultant on-site, attending progress meetings and resolving technical questions.
• Project Handover: Manage the final checklist of remaining tasks (punch-lists) and prepare all final paperwork and drawings to hand over the completed project to the client.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Professional certification or membership with a recognized engineering body is an advantage.
• Relevant certifications in construction management, HSE, or project management are desirable.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 10-12 years of overall civil construction experience, with significant experience in substation, power transmission/distribution
• Experience working for a main contractor/EPC contractor is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience managing subcontractors, construction teams, consultants, and client representatives.
