Job summary

Voltgraph seeks a visionary CTO to drive the Volt Mesh architecture across cloud, edge, and data layers. You will mentor leaders across Java, Angular, device integration, and data science while shaping secure, scalable solutions for thousands of sites.

You will recruit senior engineers, set leveling, and ensure the team ships with measurable outcomes. Expect collaboration with product, customers, and executive leadership in a hybrid Dubai-based environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading 40+ person engineering organizations in SaaS, IoT, or industrial platforms.
• Deep expertise in JVM ecosystems and frontend stacks, plus microservices and real‑time dashboards.
• Experience with edge connectivity protocols and time-series data stores.

• Establish secure-by-design governance, threat modeling, SOC 2 controls, and compliant on‑prem deployments.
• Shape pilots with product and customers to drive platform backlog.
• Recruit senior talent, calibrate leveling, and build a high-performance engineering culture.
• Review critical PRs and guide architecture spikes during critical production moments.

Job description

• Set the multi-year architecture vision for Volt Mesh across cloud, edge, and data layers—own the roadmap for how we stay resilient as we onboard thousands of sites.
• Lead and mentor engineering leads spanning Java platform, Angular experience, device integrations, and data science; institute rituals that keep collaboration humming across time zones.
• Establish guardrails for secure-by-design development, from threat modeling and SOC 2 controls to on-prem deployments subject to utility compliance.
• Partner with product and customer teams to shape pilots, unblock enterprise deals, and bring field learnings back into our platform backlog.
• Recruit senior talent, calibrate leveling frameworks, and nurture a culture where engineers ship, measure, and iterate with confidence.
• Stay close to code—review critical PRs, facilitate architecture spikes, and jump into debug sessions when megawatts are on the line.

What makes you a great fit

• Proven track record leading 40+ person engineering organizations in SaaS, IoT, or industrial platforms—with at least one scale-up story from seed to Series B or beyond.
• Depth in JVM ecosystems (Java/Kotlin/Spring) and front-end stacks (Angular/React) plus comfort orchestrating microservices, event-driven pipelines, and real-time dashboards.
• Experience with edge connectivity (OCPP, Modbus, BACnet, MQTT) and data infrastructure (Postgres/Timescale, Kafka, time-series stores).
• Skilled communicator who can translate architecture decisions for customers, investors, and cross-functional peers—comfortable presenting at board meetings or live deployments.
• Bias for action: you coach through pairing, write crisp docs, and keep teams aligned on outcomes, not just output.
• Nice to have: background in energy, mobility, or critical infrastructure, plus familiarity with GCC regulatory environments.
