Job summary

Fletcher Piccolo Associates (FPA) in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Chief Commercial Officer to join the senior leadership team. The role will oversee the commercial function across multiple infrastructure projects and lead a large commercial team.

The ideal candidate will have 20+ years in construction commercial/contracts, extensive main contractor experience, and deep knowledge of FIDIC, claims, and dispute resolution. UAE/GCC experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of commercial/contracts experience within construction.
• Experience with a major main contractor.
• Strong infrastructure experience – roads, bridges, rail, utilities or civil projects.
• Senior Commercial Director / CCO experience or equivalent.
• UAE / GCC experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial and contracts function across multiple infrastructure projects.
• Develop and implement the company’s commercial strategy.
• Oversee pre- and post-contract commercial activities.
• Manage contracts, claims, variations, EOTs and dispute resolution.
• Drive project profitability, cost control and commercial performance.

• Support tenders, procurement and contract negotiations.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.

The business has a strong track record across major infrastructure projects, and this is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the commercial function across the organisation.

The role will include:

• Leading the commercial and contracts function across multiple infrastructure projects
• Developing and implementing the company’s commercial strategy
• Overseeing pre- and post-contract commercial activities
• Managing contracts, claims, variations, EOTs and dispute resolution
• Driving project profitability, cost control and commercial performance
• Providing senior commercial guidance across major projects and business units
• Leading and developing a large commercial team
• Managing key client, consultant, subcontractor and stakeholder relationships
• Supporting tenders, procurement and contract negotiations
• Identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risks
• Reporting commercial performance directly to the senior leadership team

The ideal candidate will have:

• 20+ years of commercial/contracts experience within construction
• Extensive experience with a major main contractor
• Strong infrastructure experience – roads, bridges, rail, utilities or major civil projects
• Previous experience in a senior Commercial Director / CCO / Head of Commercial position
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC, claims, contracts and dispute resolution
• Proven experience managing large commercial teams
• Strong understanding of project profitability, cost control and risk
• Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
• UAE / GCC experience is highly preferred
