Job summary

A leading firm in Dubai is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to oversee the accounting department. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience and strong leadership skills. Responsibilities include managing financial operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulations. A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and proficiency in SAP is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Develop and manage annual budgets and financial plans.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and government reporting requirements.
• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods and policies.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and liaise with external auditors.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Management: Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or other relevant standards.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Internal Controls: Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles; improve systems and procedures to enhance the financial integrity of the organization.
• Audit Coordination: Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and liaise with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
• Coordination with international Head Office

Requirements

• Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualities

• Experience in Food service, Retail or FMCGindustries will be a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate analysis.
