Job Purpose
Assess and control the quality of cementing and acidizing materials to ensure their performance meets applicable oilfield standards. Provide technical support for cementing activities, identify operational problems, and coordinate with service companies to maintain compliance with engineering plans, quality requirements, and HSE procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Cementing Operations and Technical Support
- Identify, analyze, and resolve operational and technical cementing issues.
- Provide on-site engineering support during critical cementing operations.
- Verify compliance with approved cementing plans, procedures, specifications, and QA/QC guidelines.
- Inspect cementing equipment and materials to confirm operational suitability.
- Coordinate with service company personnel to improve cementing job performance and maintain well integrity.
- Evaluate technical problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor cementing operations against established quality and performance requirements.
Quality Assurance and Laboratory Testing
- Assess cement, cement additives, acids, and acid additives against approved oilfield standards.
- Implement cementing quality assurance practices, including appropriate laboratory testing procedures and conditions.
- Coordinate sample product testing to confirm compliance with company specifications.
- Update cementing manuals to incorporate relevant operational best practices.
- Record corrective actions and lessons learned from cementing activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing practices and technical performance.
- Study new technologies that may improve cementing operations.
Contractor and Service Company Management
- Monitor the performance of cementing and downhole packer service providers to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, HSE, and quality requirements.
- Evaluate contractor performance and identify areas requiring improvement.
- Review service company compliance with approved operating procedures.
- Assist with technical evaluations of contractor bids and service proposals.
- Participate in the preparation and evaluation of cementing, stimulation, and downhole packer service tenders.
- Coordinate technical assessments of proposed products and services.
- Maintain communication with external consultants, contractors, and service providers as required.
Materials Planning and Budget Control
- Prepare annual cementing budget requirements covering services, additives, and contracted activities.
- Forecast annual cementing material consumption based on operational requirements.
- Coordinate cementing material requirements and transfers.
- Monitor material availability to support scheduled operations.
- Provide budget planning inputs for the department or section.
- Assist in implementing approved financial budgets and operational plans.
- Investigate significant budget variances and highlight potential cost control issues.
Supervision and Operational Coordination
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned activities to achieve departmental objectives.
- Support the development of technical competencies among assigned personnel.
- Provide relevant operational guidance and training to staff.
- Coordinate with line managers, colleagues, and other company personnel on technical and operational matters.
- Contribute to departmental performance objectives under the approved company performance framework.
Policies and Continuous Improvement
The position requires implementation of approved departmental policies, processes, systems, standards, and operating procedures. Responsibilities include improving operational processes, introducing appropriate technical tools, and identifying efficiency improvements based on established practices and relevant ISO standards. The specialist must also comply with applicable legislation and company regulations.
Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability
- Follow applicable ADNOC HSE policies, procedures, and controls.
- Ensure cementing-related activities comply with relevant safety and quality requirements.
- Monitor contractor adherence to contractual HSE obligations.
- Support compliance with applicable environmental and sustainability guidelines.
- Apply relevant ADNOC Codes of Practice and established international standards.
Reporting and Communication
- Provide operational and technical information for departmental management information systems and progress reports.
- Coordinate with internal departments, service companies, consultants, and external agencies when required to support cementing activities, materials planning, and technical evaluations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor 's Degree in an Engineering discipline, Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification.
Experience and Technical Knowledge
A minimum of 6 years of experience is required.
Professional Certifications
- Applicable professional certifications as required for the position.
Working Conditions
Physical Effort: Minimal
Work Environment: Primarily air-conditioned surroundings, with occasional site visits involving exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and prevailing weather conditions.
