AIG UAE is seeking a Casualty Underwriter to join our team. You will underwrite new and renewal casualty business, manage broker relationships, and support profitable growth within the assigned territory.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and territory-management experience in the insurance industry. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is expected. We value in-person collaboration and a strong underwriting mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Territory management experience in the insurance industry.
  • Negotiation and time-management training preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of property & casualty industry; proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Casualty Underwriting Guidelines that align with corporate strategy and profitability goals.
  • Underwrite new and renewal business to promote premium growth within UW authority.
  • Provide sound underwriting decisions, price risks, and respond to renewal loss ratios.
  • Manage broker/client relationships and generate new business from existing producers.
  • Ensure casualty pricing tools are used correctly and quotes/policies are issued per regulatory and corporate policies.
  • Adhere to underwriting authority and document decisions in the underwriting file.
  • Track casualty accounts in UAE and keep systems updated.
  • Perform process-oriented tasks to ensure a smooth workflow.

How You Will Create An Impact
  • Effectively and profitability underwriter, market, sell and promote all liabilities group products.
  • Responsible for the profitable underwriting of new business production and renewal retention of casualty products for assigned territory developed through Brokers, direct clients and business development managers.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • Qualification and Education: Bachelors Degree
  • Experience: Territory management experience related to the insurance industry.
  • Training: Preferably completed negotiations skills and time management training.
  • Knowledge: has a thorough knowledge of the property & casualty industry. Advanced skills in MS Word, excel, power point and outlook.
Job Accountabilities
  • Maintain the Casualty Underwriting Guidelines that adhere to all corporate and support the strategy and profit goals of the company.
  • Underwrite new and renewal business to promote premium growth within UW authority. Achieve overall production goal in collaboration with the Underwriting Manager.
  • Provide sound underwriting decisions, exhibit flexibility, and price risks to achieve established profit goals for the company. Provide feedback on renewal loss ratios that exceed permissible. Identify poor performing accounts.
  • Work independently to evaluate and analyze submissions, apply underwriting guidelines/business practices and make an underwriting decision.
  • Maintaining broker/client relationships. Generate new business from existing producers and up-sell current accounts.
  • Ensure that all casualty pricing tools are being used correctly and that all casualty quotes, binders and policies are issued in accordance with regulatory and corporate policies.
  • Adhere to underwriting authority & underwriting guidelines reference in the AIG Casualty Intranet site. Ensuring that all underwriting decisions are documented in the underwriting file.
  • Ensure that all underwriting directives and compliance process are followed.
  • Ensure the tracking of all Casualty Accounts of AIG UAE
  • Ensure timely update of eStart and other tracking tools
  • Ensure timely booking of all policies
  • Handling of all process oriented tasks ensuring a smooth process in place
  • Other tasks that may be deemed necessary as per the Casualty requirements.
Communication and Working Relationships
Internal
  • Collaborates with other team members of the Casualty department and peer underwriters within Commercial Lines.
  • Develops strong interpersonal relationships with assigned countries and their employees.
External
  • To foster positive business relationships with producers and clients.

  • Demonstrate good business management skills in planning, organizational ability, decision-making, and priority setting with superior time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, self-manages, organizes and prioritizes work with minimal direction from superiors. Perform multi tasks simultaneous and shift focus quickly.
  • Ability to establish trust and effective working relationships with team, filed offices and producers.
  • Integrity, image, communication skills, interpersonal skills at an established high professional level.
  • Commitment to maintain and develop underwriting skills and technical knowledge.
