Responsibilities
  • Greets customers, answers phones, and directs inquiries to the appropriate party.
  • Answers routine billing questions/issues from customers.
  • Assists in opening and closing the store, including cash handling and deposits.
  • Completes, processes, and maintains applicable paperwork and records.
  • Manages the daily till (cash/deposit) and till procedures.
  • Handles goods and delivers them to clients.
  • Optimizes greeting and service at the end of the sales transaction.
  • Effectively trains and directs the activities of the cashier assigned to the front end and sets the standard for customer service.
  • Performs opening and closing functions and maintains cash office files and reports accurately.
  • Provides on-the-job training to junior cashiers.
  • Accepts cash, cheques, wire transfers, or credit cards for payment and completes transactions according to established procedures.
  • Ensures register/counter areas are neat and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Identifies prices of goods using memory or scanner.
  • Enters transactions in the cash register and provides customers with the total bill.
  • Sorts and counts currency and coins; issues receipts and change to customers.
  • Counts money at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Processes credit card and check payments.
  • Performs the duties of customer service representative when required.
  • Assists in stocking shelves, rotating merchandise, and marking prices.
  • Opens and closes tills.
